Chapter 34

Cash

Ithrow an axe into the trunk of Knox’s car just in case.

Chopping off someone’s head will land me in prison, but it’ll be worth it. These city men are an entitled bunch. Think they can take photographs of my woman and do whatever they want with them. But enough is enough.

My blood boils as I shrug into my jacket. Knox grabs his keys and heads outside with me, just as the final bit of daylight is draining from the sky.

“Be careful,” Eli says from outside the car as he pulls Henry into a tight hug.

The boy’s been missing her just as much as we have.

“Will do.” Knox thrusts the key into the ignition, and the old engine roars to life.

That’s when another pair of headlights appears, shining from the bottom of the hill as we’re about to make our descent.

I throw a hand on Knox’s shoulder. “Wait.”

“It makes our job easier if the paparazzi have come to us.”

Knox and I stare through the windshield as the headlights grow closer.

“Shit,” says Knox, frozen in his seat. “Is that…?”

He doesn’t finish his sentence. He throws open the car door and starts sprinting downhill.

I almost don’t believe my eyes when I see Sienna jump out, flinging her arms around Knox as he lifts her up and pulls her into his chest.

She wraps her legs around him, crossing them at the ankles as he spins her around, hugging her like she’s the only thing he needs in life.

I hear Sienna crying as she stays wrapped around him.

I can’t believe she’s actually back. After the initial shock wears off, I run down the hill myself as Eli follows behind me.

“Sienna!”

Tears streak across her cheeks, with more falling as she continues to hold onto Knox while wrapping one of her arms around me.

“I’m so sorry that I left,” she says, sobbing into my shoulder.

Eli catches her chin and plants a kiss to her temple. “Never apologize. We knew you’d come back.”

“It’s over,” she says, lifting her head to face all three of us. “I did what I had to do.”

“We’re so proud of you, baby,” says Eli.

Sienna looks up toward the cabin, her eyes lighting up when she sees Henry watching from the porch.

She quickly sets off toward him, both of them eventually running on a mission to reach each other.

“See-See!” Henry squeals, wrapping his tiny arms around Sienna as she brings him to her chest, showering the kid in kisses.

“I missed you, Hen-Hen!”

“I missed you more!”

I feel tears come to my eyes as I watch them reunite.
