When the conversation slowly started back up again, Jillian picked up her wine and wished the glass was just a little bit bigger. When she sat it down, Alexina leaned over. “Do ye suppose if any of the council members suffered from heart failure right here at this dinner, they would blame ye?”
“Of that,” Jillian sighed, “I have no doubt.”
“I had planned on pulling the neckline of my dress down just a little further to create a distraction.”
Unable to help herself, Jillian laughed. “If it did not get me thrown in the stocks, I might have supported it if only to see if yer husband would be amused.”
Tearloch glared at them. “He would not be.”
Graeme had ordered her things moved after dinner, but when he walked her back to their chambers, he walked right by her door and opened his. He should let her sleep alone. The rage that had been slowly building inside him all day had nearly bubbled over at dinner, and now all he wanted to do was sink himself inside her until the warmth of her body chased it all away.
But he did not think that he could give her any tenderness. “We will just sleep,” he decided through gritted teeth.
“Sleep sounds good,” she said quietly as she reached for the sash around her dress. “But first, we must undress.”
Although he’d already seen every inch of her body, he was still mesmerized as the dress slipped from her shoulders. In the thin shift beneath, she could hide none of the curves of her supple body or the outside of her nipples poking through. Walking slowly toward him, she tugged his shirt over his head.
“This may make sleep more difficult,” he said harshly as she smoothed her hands down his chest to the belt of his tartan. Then, to his utter shock, she sank to her knees.
“On the contrary. I believe this will make sleep much easier. Dinnae look at me like that, Husband. ‘Tis my duty to undress ye, and then ‘tis my duty to ease yer stress.”
He gritted his teeth as she unfolded his tartan and let it slip to the floor. His erection rose at full mast. “And how do ye plan on doing that?”
She trailed a finger beneath him until he jerked in her hand. “I thought I might start by taking care of this.”
“This was not a problem until ye undressed.”
“Is that so? Then I suppose I should be the one to help ease ye.”
“Jillian.” It nearly killed him, but he put his hand on her shoulders to stop her. “I dinnae think I can be gentle tonight.”
“That is good because I have no wish to be gentle either.” Sticking out her tongue, she followed the same path as her finger and then took him in her mouth.
Need exploded through him, and he pulled out of her mouth and pushed her down on the ground as he knelt over her. With a finger, he tested her and stroked her to ready her before he lifted her knees and buried himself inside her.
At the sound of her cry, he stopped and stared down at her, but it wasn’t pain in her eyes. It was lust and hunger for more.
And so he gave it to her, driving into her until she was screaming his name into his shoulder and he pumped everything he had inside her. Then, they lay, panting on the floor.
After a moment, she chuckled. “Not that I am complaining, but we are only a mere foot or so away from the bed.”
“‘Twas yer own fault, taking me in yer mouth like that. What did ye expect?”
Purring, she intertwined her legs and rubbed her heel along his calf. “I expected to help ye take the edge off yer foul mood. I had planned to be on my knees for much longer than ye allowed.”
At the thought, he groaned. “So are ye disappointed?”
“Oh, aye,” she teased as she sat up and looked down at his body. Impossibly, he was stirring again.
“Then, by all means, take yer pleasure.”
Her mouth descended again, and at least this time, they made it to the bed.
She was right. When they fell asleep, he did feel much more at peace.

Graeme was gone when Jillian woke up the next morning. It was still early, and when she stretched, she winced, feeling the stiffness in her body. The man had been more than wicked last night, and she had loved it.
