That stopped him. His eyes wide, he pulled back just a little and stared down at her. “Ye could?”

Lord, but women weren’t supposed to talk about that, were they? When she was happily married, before the clan turned on her, she had a few friends and was scandalized to learn that when their husbands didn’t please them, they did it themselves.

And then, when she had no husband but still had need, she discovered that she was a fast learner.

“Does that upset ye?”

“Not at all,” he choked out and rolled off her to give her room. “Proceed.”

Realizing that he meant to watch her, she cleared her throat and got up for a blanket to cover herself.

“Oh, no,” he growled as he stopped her. “Ye have no idea the thoughts running through my head right now. I mean to see ye touch yerself, love.”

Love. Even though she knew that wasn’t what he meant, her heart still swelled a little anyway, and she realized that she did want to please him. Lying back down against the pillow, she reached down and touched herself. She was still sensitive and gasped a little bit, but his eyes darkened, and she realized that she desperately wanted him to like this.

“How often do ye do this?” He was mesmerized as her finger moved over her little button.

“Not often. I only recently started.”

“How recent?”

What was the harm in admitting it now? “After ye came to the loch.”

Graeme swore lowly and reached up to run a finger over her lips. “Did ye think of me?”

Embarrassed, she nodded.

“Jillian...” Lust flooded his eyes, and he pushed her hand away and slipped a finger inside of her. “Thank the stars, ye are ready. Are ye certain that ye want this?”

“Would ye quit procrastinating!”

Her voice didn’t even sound like hers, and he quickly pulled her knees up and entered her. Even with his fingers and her own, it was still a tight fit, and she grunted a little at the invasion. He stilled and moaned, but she grabbed his hips before he could dare think of stopping. “‘Tis all right,” she whispered. “More, Graeme.”

Their gazes locked together, and he moved, just a little until he thrust the rest of his hardness inside of her. He was buried so deep that she caught her breath and reveled in the feel of him. “Ah, lass, I dinnae know how long I will last.”

“‘Tis all right. I will have no trouble keeping up,” she promised him. Indeed, he was stroking over that sweet body that made her toes curl, and her chest flush with pleasure.

“Mine now.” With that, he lost all tenderness and moved as a man possessed. As predicted, Jillian had no trouble meeting his thrusts, and when he reached between them and touched her, she gave herself over to the abandonment of desire. It soon became too much, and she arched, crying out, and shattered around him. He rode her through it, hoarsely calling her name through the storm until he drove her deeper into the mattress and spilled himself inside her.

There were no words as he rose a few minutes later to the water basin. She watched, her heart still pounding in her chest as he gently cleaned the both of them, and then he laid back down next to her and drew the covers around them.

She fell asleep knowing that at least they had tonight, for tomorrow, the world would test her.

While Graeme and Theo finished packing the horses and readying the men, Jillian, Gemma, and Elizabeth shared a tearful goodbye.

“No matter what is happening, I will visit you and the babe,” Jillian promised. “Even if I have to come alone.”

“Ye will do no such thing!” Gemma laughed. “If for some reason yer husband turns into a dragon and wilnae come with ye, then Theo will send an escort.”

Behind them, Graeme sighed. “We can hear ye, ye know. Dinnae worry, Gemma, I wilnae imprison Jillian. We will happily pay our respects to the child.”

“See that ye do!”

Theo cleared his throat and leaned over to whisper thematically, “Do not allow that to upset ye. She gets more temperamental as her pregnancy progresses.”

“Repeat that, and this will be the only child ye ever have,” Gemma threatened, and everyone laughed.
