"And somehow you sitting over there looking satisfied."

"I am."

Our food hit the table a few minutes later, but neither one of us touched it right away. Poncho just kept looking at me.

"What?"

"I know that look."

"What look?"

"The one where your hardheaded ass done made your mind up."

I finally grabbed a fry. "You probably right, but I'ma get her."

Poncho laughed again. "Man, you don't even know that girl."

"Don't have to."

"What if she don't want you?"

I shrugged before taking another bite. "It ain't a woman walking this earth I can't pull."

"We'll see."

"You laughing now."

"I am."

"You won't be laughing long."

"Don't let that confidence write a check your ass can't cash."

"My confidence is what pays me and you," I chuckled.

"Whatever you say."

The conversation drifted to everything except the club after that. We discussed business, football, Poncho's mama getting on his nerves because she wanted grandkids yesterday. By the time we paid the check and walked back outside, we'd laughed enough for my stomach to hurt.

About thirty minutes later, Poncho pulled the Wraith beneath the covered entrance of my building overlooking the beach and killed the engine.

"You good from here?"

"Yeah."

Poncho climbed out behind me and tossed my key fob to the valet.

"Get my car."

"Yes, sir."

"I'll hit you tomorrow," he said, turning back to me.

"Bet."

We dapped it up before I headed inside, where Jeff looked up from the security desk. He was aunt’s son on my father’s side of the family. Jeff was a college kid and asked for a summer job. He had no desire to get involved in my other businesses, so when he asked for a job, I hired him to work the lobby of my building.

"What's up, cuz?"
