"What does that mean?"
"It means goodnight."
“You must don’t know who I am.”
“I don’t. Am I supposed to?”
“Where you from?”
“Broward. Why?”
"So, then you know."
"I know you sent me a bottle," I replied.
"And?"
"I drank it."
"So, I earned a conversation."
"Yeah, negative. And if this the part where you think I'm supposed to be impressed I'm not."
His smile only got bigger.
"And I have a boyfriend."
He shrugged. "What that's supposed to mean to me?"
"It means I'm taken. But thank you for the bottle and goodnight."
I took exactly two steps before I heard him laugh behind me. "Guess I gotta earn it then."
Without turning around, I lifted one hand over my shoulder and kept walking.
"Bye, Jokah."
By the time I reached the front door, Armani was still standing there laughing with the bouncer.
"Took you long enough," she said, falling into step beside me.
"I got held up."
Her eyes got big, as she grabbed my arm. "Wait, that was Jokah, wasn't it?"
"Yeah."
"Ouuuuu, bitch!" She started bouncing up and down like she had to pee.
"I know you gave him your number. That man is so fine."
"Girl, calm down," I laughed.
"You did!"
"No."
"No?"
