“No. You don’t get to do this.” She’s shaking now, but not with fear. With years of suppressed fury finally boiling over. “You don’t get to stand there and act like he betrayed you. Like he did something unforgivable. Not when you did the exact same thing.”

King’s eyes narrow. “What the hell are you talking about?”

“Demi.” The name lands like a grenade. “You married a rival MC Sergeant’s daughter. You fell for the one woman who could have started a war with every club in the state. Rocky’s daughter. Your enemy’s blood. And everyone was supposed to just accept it because you’re King, because you’re the president, because when you want something you just take it and damn the consequences.”

She steps closer to him, and I realize I’ve never seen her like this. Never seen her stand up to her brother without flinching, without backing down. Somehow it’s hot as hell, even though it really shouldn’t be, given the situation.

“But me? I’m not allowed to choose who I want? I’m not allowed to fall for someone without your permission?” Her voice cracks, but she doesn’t stop. “You’re a fucking hypocrite. And I’m done pretending you’re not.”

The silence that follows is deafening.

I watch King’s face cycle through emotions — anger, denial, the slow creep of recognition. Because she’s right. And somewhere underneath all that fury, he knows it.

Rogue clears his throat. “Not to interrupt this beautiful family moment, but we’ve got three assholes tied up on the floor who apparently broke into your sister’s apartment. Maybe we handle that first?”

King holds Naomi’s gaze for another long second. Something passes between them — not forgiveness, not resolution, but something. An acknowledgment, maybe. A crack in the wall.

Then he turns away from her, and I can finally breathe.

Ghost hauls Caruso to his feet while Razor pats him down with methodical efficiency. A wallet, a phone, a .38 from the shoulder holster, a knife from an ankle sheath. Razor examines each item with those cold, calculating eyes, then flips open the wallet.

“Vincent Caruso,” he reads. “Vegas address. Looks like mid-level management — connected enough to have muscle, not connected enough to be missed.”

Caruso is fully awake now, watching everything with the careful stillness of a man who knows he’s outmatched but hasn’t given up hope of walking out alive.

“Tyler Reeves owed him money,” I say. “Told Caruso that Naomi would cover the debt, then vanished.”

“That true?” King crouches in front of Caruso, getting right in his face. “You came into my city, broke into my sister’s apartment, put your hands on my family — over someone else’s debt?”

Caruso’s jaw tightens. “The girl was with Reeves. He said she’d be good for it.”

“And you believed a junkie who owed you money?” King laughs, but there’s nothing funny in it. “You’re dumber than you look.”

“I want what I’m owed.”

“You’re not owed shit. Not from her.” King’s voice drops, goes quiet in a way that’s somehow more terrifying than shouting. “The debt belongs to Tyler Reeves. You want your money? You find him. But my sister doesn’t owe you a goddamn thing, and if I ever see your face in Tucson again, you won’t be walking out on your own two feet.”

Something flickers in Caruso’s expression. Not quite fear yet, but close.

King leans in closer. “And just so we’re crystal clear — I’m going to make a call to my buddy Saint. You know Saint? Runs the Sin City Reapers out of Vegas?”

Now there’s fear. Real fear, flashing across Caruso’s face before he can hide it.

“Yeah,” King says softly. “I thought you might know the name. So here’s what’s going to happen. You’re going to walk out of here alive, because I’m feeling generous. But if you put one step wrong — if you come near my sister again, if you even think about anyone connected to this club — my brothers and Saint’s brothers are both going to come looking for you. And when we find you, there won’t be enough left to identify.”

He smiles. It doesn’t reach his eyes.

“Nod if you understand.”

Caruso nods.

“Good.” King stands, straightens his cut. “Ghost, Razor — get these pieces of shit out of here. Make sure they find their way back to Vegas in one piece. I want them able to spread the word about what happens when you fuck with the Sons of Ruin.”

The apartment empties out slowly. Ghost and Razor drag Caruso and his boys into the night. Rogue claps me on the shoulder on his way out — doesn’t say anything, but the look in his eyes says enough. Lock follows, silent as always, though I catch him giving Naomi a small nod of respect.

Then it’s just King, Naomi, and me.

“Outside,” King says to me. “Now.”
