I bite the inside of my cheek as I think about her on the dance floor, rolling those round hips, losing herself to the music.

“Ah, shit,” I hiss when I miss the leg hole and stumble until I’m lying on the bed. “Motherfucker,” I grunt.

Thankfully, my second attempt is more successful. My cell buzzes again as I’m doing them up.

Bea: She’s already had a couple of drinks…She will probably need someone to make sure she gets home safely…

A laugh tumbles out of me before I finally send her a reply.

Calvin: You can stop. You convinced me long ago.

Bea: Good. She doesn’t know I’ve messaged you. Don’t make me regret it.

Calvin: Wouldn’t dream of it.

Bea: Good boy.

I shake my head, although I also can’t wipe the smile from my lips.

After pulling a shirt on, I run my fingers through my hair and check myself out in the mirror before pushing my feet into a pair of shoes, grabbing a jacket, and getting the hell out of my apartment.

I call an Uber as I ride the elevator to the lobby.

“Evening, Mr. Keller.”

“Evenin’, Clint,” I say, sounding cheerier than I’m sure he’s heard in a while.

Proving me right, he gives me a double take.

“Looking sharp tonight,” he says, taking in my outfit. “Meeting someone special?”

“Sure am.”

He eyes me amusedly. He’s seen Sienna and me coming back and forth together a few times now. I’m sure he’s figured it out.

“Someone I know?” he teases.

“Yep. Don’t you go getting any ideas now you know she’s taken. Sienna Wentworth is mine. Always has been.”

His eyebrows hit his hairline.

I never made a habit of bringing women back to my apartment. I much prefer getting a hotel, being in neutral territory. The risk of them thinking it’s more than a one-night thing is reduced, and it leaves zero chance for them to turn up unannounced and demand a second round.

“If I were thirty years younger and not happily married, you might have something to worry about, but as it is…” He lets his words trail off as I chuckle.

“Good to know she’s safe from your charm,” I say with a smile as my driver pulls up outside. “Have a good night.”

“You too. I’m on until midnight, so I might see you again.” He winks and wiggles his eyebrows suggestively.

I’m still laughing as I spill out onto the street. If I still had a relationship with my father, I’d hope that it would be a little bit like I have with Clint. Easy-going and full of banter.

“Evenin’,” I say as I drop into the back of the waiting car, excitement fluttering in my stomach for what I’m about to do. And it only grows, although with a healthy dose of anticipation the closer we get to the club.

“Here’s good,” I say once we’re just a little down the street. I might be desperate to get in there, but a short walk to burn off some of the energy buzzing through my veins isn’t a bad thing.

Despite the line to get inside, I play the cocky athlete card and step straight up to the bouncers, assuming that they’ll recognize me and allow me to skip. Thankfully, it works like a charm, much to the annoyance of those at the front of the line, desperate to get inside.

I take a deep breath as I step into the main club area.
