Eirik’s head snaps up, his eyes widening with alarm.

“If your love is really true,” Blight continues, her smile turning sharp. “If it’s really eternal, then it can survive anything. Right?”

Suspicion narrows Eirik’s eyes. He pulls Morgaine closer, as though he already senses trouble from the little Un’s question.

Blight raises both hands. Two portals tear open in the air.

They are voids that lead to different realms and different worlds.

“One for you,” Blight says cheerfully, pointing at the first portal. “One for her. Let’s test that love, shall we?”

“No!” Eirik clutches Morgaine tighter, his whole body trembling. “You can’t! I won’t let you!”

The pull from the portals strikes them from opposite directions. Eirik wraps both arms around Morgaine, but the force tears her from his grasp. He is dragged toward one opening while she is pulled toward the other.

“No!” Eirik’s scream shakes the throne room. “No! I won’t let go!”

“You don’t have a choice,” Blight says.

Their fingers begin to slip apart. Horror crosses Eirik’s face as he realizes he cannot hold on to Morgaine.

“I’ll find you!” Eirik screams at his lover as he is dragged toward his portal. “Do you hear me? I’ll search every realm, every dimension, every lifetime. I’ll walk through fire and darkness to reach you, Morgaine!”

Morgaine reaches toward him, her aged hand trembling in empty air. A single sob escapes her throat.

“Wait for me,” she whispers. “Please wait for me. I’ll find you too. I promise I’ll search just as long and just as far.”

Morgaine’s portal closes.

Her last words are cut off, lost to whatever world now holds her.

Eirik releases a furious scream and catches Blight by the leg as the portal drags him closer.

“Ewww, no!” Blight shrieks. She kicks wildly, trying to shake him loose as though he is some bug clinging to her.

His hand burns against her skin, leaving a dark mark. The force of his grip pulls her toward the portal with him.

“Get him off me!” she screams.

Elli catches Blight’s hand before she can be dragged through. Mal steps forward and strikes Eirik’s arm, forcing him to release her.

The portal closes around the Fae King.

Eirik and Morgaine are both gone.

Blight drops to the floor and clutches her left leg. A scorched handprint stains her pale skin.

“Ouch,” she whines.

“You separated them? That was cruel,” Elli observes, but she doesn’t sound angry.

“If they truly love each other, they’ll find a way back.” Blight turns to her, eyes wide and innocent. “If they don’t... well, I suppose their love wasn’t that strong after all.”

“You’ve damned them both to eternal searching,” Elli replies.

Blight shrugs, her tears drying instantly.

The Un begin to fade one by one.
