The kitchen swing doors hit the wall and we both jump, “Yo! What smells so damn good in here?”
Sunny recovers before I do, blinking twice and then pasting a smile on her face. Goddamn if it ain’t genuine too.
“You, my dear Coyote are just in time for fried apples and leftover biscuits.”
“Oh fuck yeah!” my brother says, grabbing a plate and cutlery and sitting his ass down beside me.
I turn slowly, to stare at him. “What the fuck are you doing?”
“What?” he asks, mystified because he’s an idiot.
“Sunny isn’t your fucking chef, go get your own food.” I hiss at him, jumping when something hot and sticky slaps the back of my hand.
“Don’t be rude. There is more than enough.” Sunny smiles at Coyote, spatula in hand, before plating him up some apples and biscuits.
Before I can open my mouth a full plate slides my way and Sunny sits herself across from me.
“Eat up, boys.” She throws me a wink and loads up her biscuit, takes a bite and then moans long and low.
Coyote stares at the perfection sitting across from us, his gaze moving from her mouth to her tits hidden behind my shirt and I’ve had enough.
“That’s it, we’re taking this upstairs.” I grab my plate, and hers, and turn to leave. “Fuck.” Her socks.
I put everything down, lift her to standing, put my shoulder in her stomach and then hoist her over my shoulder. She doesn’t say anything. She doesn't fight back or screech. Nope, she giggles and one of her hands moves to my lower back, the other making her wiggle.
“Whatever you’re doing, stop it,” I grunt, worried that I’ll drop not only her, but our plates of food.
“I’m waving to Coyote.” she says as if it's obvious. “Enjoy the apples, buddy!”
I close my eyes, letting out a breath before carrying her through the common room and all my brothers’ whoops and jeers. Sunny laughs, waves and jokes with the brothers and despite my vows and pep talks with myself, I smile.
Chapter Eleven
Sunny
“So, are we just gonna sit here trying not to stare at each other?” I ask, sitting up on Revenant’s bed.
I have no idea what his plan was, but I’m not complaining. We’re up here, tucked away from the brothers and whores and their live sex shows, bellies full. The only thing that would make this better would be if Revenant would talk to me. So far the only sound breaking the silence we’re sitting in is Revenant’s rumbling. I’m not sure if the man is having a wild internal dialogue or has indigestion from the fried apples.
I sigh long and loud, flopping back on the bed and grabbing my phone. I scroll for a minute before sitting back up, hitting him with a serious look.
“OK. Let's do some moral dilemmas. They’re always fun right?” Revenant raises a brow. “Excellent. Question one. Your Mama, your brother and your best friend are hanging off a cliff. You can only save one. Who are you saving?”
“Brother.” He rumbles, thick arms crossed over his chest, his long legs stretched in front of him as he sits in the only chair in the room.
“Not your mama?” I ask, face screwed up.
“She’d kick my ass for not saving my brother.” An almost smile tugs at the corner of his mouth. “Lemme guess, you’d save your momma?”
I frown at my phone for a moment, “No. I’d check to see how high the cliff is. Can anyone realistically survive the fall? Is there a ledge they can move to so I can save them one by one?”
Revenant’s brows furrow a moment. “That’s not the question.”
“Or maybe it’s not the whole question.” I raise a brow. “OK, number two. An old lady and a kid in a burning building.”
“I’d save the kid.”
“Wrong.”
