“What type of shit?” I murmur, eyes on the cloth. If I look directly at her I’m afraid I won't be able to stop myself from kissing her.

“Oh, just that you belong to her and all that.”

My eyes dart to hers but she’s busy looking everywhere but at me.

“Does that bother you?”

She frowns. “Ah, yeah. Everyone knows that brothers don’t belong to the cut sluts,” she huffs out, crossing her arms over her chest.

I run the cloth down her cheek, cleaning up any other scratches she may have gotten from Bubbles.

“And how do you know that?”

“I read.” She shrugs. “And Mercy told me.”

I let out a huff. “I think Mercy has taken a shine to you.”

“She should. I’m awesome.”

That pulls a chuckle from me and I peek at her. No one else makes me laugh like she does. It’s like a sneak attack, when I least expect it. It’s part of her light. Her charm. I don’t want to dim that. I could take the easy coward’s way out and tell her that Bubbles was right, that I’m Bubbles’ man, but even the thought of the words falling from my lips feels wrong.

“Sunny, I’m not a good man.”

“I know-”

“No, you don’t. This shit has to stop. Fuck’s sake, you killed for me today. Do you know how messed up that is? Who the fuck does that for their crush?”

Sunny’s eyes narrow and she jerks her face away from the cloth I’m holding to her cheek. She purses her lips, snatching the cloth from my hand and placing it to her own face. “I’m going to let you have that one, because I scare you for some reason. But that’s the only free one you get, got it? I’m not in the habit of letting men talk to me that way.”

I blink, once, twice. Well, fuck. We stare at each other. No, I stare at the beauty sitting on my bed, while she glares at me. It seems my little kitten has claws when she wants to.

“You can run away now if you need to,” she says, waving her hand, dismissing me.

“What will you do?”

Her plump lips twitch. “Probaby chase you.” She peeks up at me, her smile widening, “And beat any bitches in my path.”

I stare for a beat before laughter bubbles up out of me, the sound falling free from my lips. I’m well on my way to being well and truly fucked.

Chapter Ten

Sunny

Ilean back on Revenant’s pillows, watching as he chuckles from the foot of the bed where he’s retreated to. Tall, built like a brick shit house, hands hooked on his hips. He gazes at me with eyes that look just a little less haunted than usual. Well, if this is what happens when I make him laugh, I’ll make it my mission in life to make him laugh every minute of the day.

My stomach rumbles and his eyes narrow at the sound. “You eaten?”

“I had one bite of cold pizza before Bubbles decided to mouth off. So no, I haven’t eate-”

Revenant wraps his hand around mine, yanking me up from the bed. I slam into his chest and his eyes widen.

“Shit, sorry,” he mumbles. Clearly unaware of his own strength.

I shrug, just happy for my tits to be pressed against his hard torso. “I’m not.” I pat his hard chest before taking a step back.

He’s not ready for me. For this. But he will be. I’m nothing if not scarily stubborn. I always get what I want. Revenant will just have to learn that the hard way.

I turn toward the bathroom, lining up the shot and tossing the washcloth into the laundry basket. “Score!” I yell, hands held up over my head.
