“You sure you good?” he asked again.

“I said I’m good, Zo.”

He stared at me for a long moment, then nodded. “Cool,” he said. “But if you need to talk—”

“I don’t,” I cut him off.

Kenzo raised his hands and backed off.

“Aight, bruh. I’m out.”

I stood there in the silence, staring at the now cleaned up space on the floor where Devonte’s body was.

I should’ve felt something. Guilt, maybe. Regret. But I didn’t. I’d killed plenty of niggas before. One more didn’t make a difference. Fuck him.

I pulled out my phone and checked the time. 1:47 AM. I should go back to the hotel and get some sleep, clear my head. But even as I thought that, I knew I wasn’t going to. Because I needed to see her. Needed to see Indie.

I’d been trying to stay away, trying to create distance, trying to convince myself I didn’t need her. But that shit wasn’t working. I was drawn to her like a magnet. Like she had some kind of hold on me I couldn’tbreak. And I was tired of fighting it.

I walked out of the warehouse, climbed into my Bentley, and started the engine. I wasn’t going back to the hotel.

I was going to the crash pad.

Toher.

Chapter 9

Indie

I couldn’t sleep. Again.

That made three nights in a row now that I’d been lying in this bed, staring at the ceiling, my mind racing with thoughts I couldn’t shut off.

Three nights since Stone had walked out of that kitchen without saying a word after realizing he’d came inside me with no condom.

Three nights of wondering where the fuck he was, what he was doing, if he was even coming back.

The morning after he left, I’d come downstairs to find a Plan B pill sitting on the kitchen counter, still in its packaging, like some kind of fucked-up peace offering.

I’d taken it immediately. I didn’t even hesitate, because the last thing I needed was to be pregnant by that crazy ass nigga.

But that was the last I’d seen or heard from him. No explanation. No warning. No nothing. He was just gone, and it was driving me fucking crazy.

I’d tried to escape twice over the past three days. Both times, his guards had caught me before I even made it off the property. They’d dragged me back inside, their grips firm but not rough, like they’d been given specific instructions not to hurt me.

But they made it clear I wasn’t going anywhere.

Stone’s orders.

So here I was, trapped in this house, alone withmy thoughts, wondering what the fuck was going on.

Was he done with me? Had he gotten bored and moved on to some other bitch? Was he out there right now, fucking someone else, forgetting all about me?

And why the fuck did that thought make my stomach twist?

I shouldn’t care. I shouldn’t give a fuck what Stone was doing or who he was doing it with.

He was keeping me captive. He’d ruined my life. Taken me away from my brother, my job, my home.
