“My walk was good. I’m not going to lie, though; I was ready to get back to you.” My hands rubbed up and down her back.

A smile lit up her face. “I was knocked out. This bed is comfortable.”

I stared into her eyes and took notice of the way my heart seemed to slow down, and my body seemed to relax. In the past, if a chick tried to lie on me or cuddle after sex, I would push her off. With Avalon, I didn’t want her to move. I would stay in the same position for the rest of the day if I could, but we had things to do.

“You can stay in my bed whenever you feel like it,” I told her honestly. I needed her to know that my space was always open to her, and she would never have to worry about anyone else being there. Anytime I fucked in the hotel, it was always in an empty room on a lower floor. I never let anyone enter my space but my family, and now Avalon.

“You sure about that?”

“One hundred percent. We can’t stay in here all day today, though, because we have somewhere to go.”

Since Avalon and I were still getting to know each other, I wanted to show her one of my hobbies. She already knew about my collection, but I wanted to show her where I went to get them sometimes.

“Where are we going?”

“To a knife convention, but we’ll eat first.”

She jumped out of the bed and clapped her hands. “What? I’ve never been to one before. I’m excited.”

I couldn’t help but chuckle as I sat up.

“I’m glad you are. I honestly wasn’t sure if it were something you would be into.”

She came close to the bed, then leaned down. “If it’s something you like, then I’m into it.” She kissed me. “I have to go home and get dressed, but I can come here afterward.”

“Nah, I’m going to come pick you up. Pack a bag, though, because I want you to stay the night again if that’s okay.”

She kissed me again. “I’d love to.”

I got out of bed and grabbed my basketball shorts that were on the floor as Avalon walked toward the bathroom. Since she wore a dress the night before, I found some shorts and a shirt for her to put on.

Once she was ready to go, I walked her to her car, then went back upstairs so I could get ready for the day.

Sometime later

Avalon and I had gotten breakfast, then drove almost an hour away to the knife convention. During the ride, we talked about an event she was planning for one of her clients, as well as something she thought I should do for my employees. I also told her that Mycah wanted to reach out to her for some help with the wedding. When I told Mycah that Avalon had pretty much planned the whole anniversary party, she insisted on getting Avalon’s phone number. The thought had slipped my mind because my focus was on making things right first. It wasn’t untilAvalon mentioned a potential new client that I remembered what Mycah said. Avalon was excited about it, and they had planned to meet with each other in a few days.

When we arrived at the center for the convention, I found a parking spot, and we headed toward the entrance. We got our wristbands and went inside.

I watched Avalon’s face light up when she saw all the different tables filled with knives and the number of people that were there.

“This is crazy. I never knew something like this existed,” Avalon mentioned as I led her further into the room.

“There’s probably a convention for everything. Is it like the workshops you go to?”

“Sorta. This is a much larger scale, though.” Her eyes darted around the room as she continued to take everything in.

There were some tables that had demonstrations, so we headed toward one.

I held Avalon’s hand as we watched the guy throw a knife at a board, and when it landed, it stuck instead of bouncing off like some knives did.

“Are you planning on buying anything? Or just here for the experience?”

“I really don’t know yet. Sometimes I just come for the experience, and other times, if something catches my eye, I buy it.” My gaze traveled the length of her body.

She wore jean shorts that stopped right above her knees, with a graphic tee that she cut so it showed some of her stomach. Her hair was pulled into a ponytail, but she let some hang down in the back. In her ears were gold hoops, and she had on a gold necklace. Her look was old-school, but she wore that shit well. Avalon could wear a brown paper bag and still be the shit in any room. She was thick, and I thoroughly enjoyed every curve that graced her body.

“How did you get into collecting in the first place?”
