Prologue
Darius
Darius Kent ran his personal life with the efficiency of a top-of-the line computing system. The woman he wanted stayed on the desktop, visible and easily accessible, the others, carefully maneuvered to the round file before a speedy disposal. No retrievals, no reboots, no re-installing themselves in his life. Now, Raven Radell, the infuriating female—she fried his operating system’s motherboard. Overwhelming his heart, his life didn’t began to explain how much she meant to him.
“Quit the job, Raven.” Darius stopped pacing long enough to stand in front of her.
He held her gaze, before he let his eyes take a languid stroll down her bare back.
“You’re not the boss of me,” she laughed, grappling in the twisted bed linens for her bra. “Your father relies on his personal staff to his daily needs. Besides, I love my job and—”
“Damn it, Raven,” he said, toppling her back into his bed with the weight of his naked body. “I love you,” Darius grumbled. Lowering his head, he placed gentle kisses along her slender neck, tasting her light-brown skin as he progressed lower. Long, inky black tresses fanned out over his pillow, her silky crown flowing over her shoulders.
“Love you, too,” she said on a breathy sigh, the pulse at her neck quickening.
Her response to his every touch never ceased to thrill him. With one hand he pressed her knees apart, settling his big body between her spread thighs. The scent of a hot and ready woman drifted up to greet him. Darius inhaled, hardening instantly.
“You’re mine and I say you don’t work.” The woman missed the point every time he raised the issue of them moving in together. Shit, it had been eight months of one, two nights a week. He craved her every night. “My father can find himself another executive assistant.”
“And, you’re my man, but—“
“So why hell do you insist on arguing with me? Pack your shit and move in…today.”
What woman fought with their man about cohabitating? Raven “generous to all-smart fucking mouth-independent to a fault” Radell, that’s who.
She shifted beneath him, giving him better access. “What about my apartment?”
“As good as sold. I want you here.” With his teeth he nipped the sensitive flesh of her full breast. “Twenty-five, seven.” Yeah, his woman was that damn good—at everything.
“Impossible.”
“Let me figure that out.” He pressed his pulsing rod to her wet entrance. “Raven?”
Enough with the delays, he wanted an answer.
“We’ll see,” she said, lifting her hips up, gripping him and pulling him in, slow and deep.
“Oh, damn,” he groaned. Her ass, literally, was distracting him. He probably should have started this conversation after they dressed. “You did this shit on purpose.”
“Prove it,” she grinned, dragging one natural, short cut nail down his sternum.
Darius grabbed her left ankle, lifting until the shapely, toned calf rested over his left shoulder. “Done, and then we’re going to pack your shit.”
