“She must be a hell of a woman to make you want a relationship and be smiling all hard and shit. Yo’ ass blushing.”

I laughed, sitting back in the chair with my arms folded.

“I don’t blush. I’m a grown ass man.”

“I’m looking at you, cheeks red than a muthafucka.” He started laughing and coughing.

“Let’s change the subject for you clock the fuck out,” I joked, causing him to flip me the bird. “But she is one hell of a woman. Godsent. Real shit.”

SAME DAY . . . HOURS LATER . . .

I’d been making deliveries all fucking night, and now, all I wanted to do was lie my ass down and possibly get some.

I realized the busier I kept my fucking self, the less I thought about Zaire and what happened to him. I would never be completely okay with losing my fucking twin, my right hand, but staying away from having an idle mind was my best bet.

After dropping the Godfrey Baking Co. truck off, I hopped in my whip and started straight toward Kasia’s. Right now, I needed peace, and she was the most peaceful out of her and Tarin. The latter wanted to argue too fucking much, and while that angry sex was fire, I didn’t have it in me like I used to prior to Zaire’s passing.

Shutting the engine down in Kasia’s driveway, I made my way up using my key, or attempting to, but the shit didn’t work. Figuring that I was just fucking up because my mind was all over the fucking place, I rang the doorbell.

“Yes,” Kasia answered, leaving the screen door closed.

“What you mean ‘yes’? Open the fucking door.” I tugged on the handle, but she just stared at me. “Fuck I do now?” I huffed, not having the drive for an argument or attitude.

“Have you been fucking Tarin still?” she questioned lowly, almost evilly.

“No,” I lied.

I’d tried to stop, but Tarin was a hard bitch to shake. Had I not had kids with her, it may have been possible, but being in her presence to see my children made it harder than it sounded to stay from between her fucking legs. Being a good nigga was difficult, I wasn’t gon’ even front, but I tried for Kasia.

“Okay, so why did she send me this?” Kasia held her phone up, and it was a photo of me knocked the fuck out in bed.

“All I’m doing is sleeping,” I defended. “You act like I’m cuddled up with the bitch.”

My words clearly pissed Kasia off because she unlocked the screen door, shoving it into me before coming outside.

“Why the fuck are you in her bed shirtless anyway! You don’t need to fucking strip or even take naps over there just because you got kids with her ass!”

“I work! All fucking day! So my fault if I roll up over there and need a fucking nap after playing with my kids!” I snapped on her short ass.

Part of that shit was true. The photo Tarin’s stupid ass took was a legit instance where I needed some sleep before having to hop back in the streets. It would’ve been a waste of fucking time to go home for the shit when her spot was closer to where I needed to be, and I could see my kids. Nevertheless, I was still fucking Tarin; the picture just wasn’t one of those times.

“No! Part of being in a relationship means certain shit is off-limits! What if I slept over my baby daddy’s house because I was tired? You’d be trying to shoot his ass!”

Facts. I wouldn’t be trying though. I would murk that nigga. Shit, probably her too. I couldn’t fathom having a disloyal bitch on my side. I didn’t even understand how Rakim let LaMia live after what she did, but from how he made prison sound, I could understand why he’d never risk going back to that shit.

“Aight. My bad. Next time I will leave and go sleep in my fucking whip or some shit.” I tried to step up close to her, but she retreated, face still balled up. “Kasia, I said I was sorry. Fuck more do you want from a nigga?”

“I want you to go.”

Dropping my head briefly out of exasperation, I said, “I’ll sleep on the couch. I’m tired as fuck, and I just wanna rest and kick it with Divine.”

“Hi, Daddy!” My baby girl came to the door and cheesed.

“Baby girl!” I felt my chest tighten at the sight of her.
