“I have been in relationships with other women, but most of them were short-lived.”

“Okay, I didn’t ask for your relationship history, so I’m going to go now.”

I walk away from him, but he chases after me and stops in front me just as I’m about to push open the doors.

“Violet,” he whispers. “I’m not letting you walk out that door until we finish this conversation. I don’t care if the arena closes. We’re not leaving until we fully rehash the past. It’s going to be painful for both of us, but I don’t care.”

“Yes, Grayson. I’m walking out this door.”

“No, you’re not.”

I clear my throat. “Yes I am, and you’re coming with me. Do you want to continue this at my apartment or yours?”

He takes a minute to make a decision. “Let’s go to my apartment.”

“Fine.”

“Don’t be surprised if Noah and Xander are there.”

“I don’t care.”

I wait for Grayson to grab his gym bag from the locker room, sitting at one of the tables in front of the arena.

Zoning out, I can’t help but think about how stupid I was coming here. I didn’t think he’d forgive me, and I don’t deserve his forgiveness. I thought I could explain myself and tell him why I did what I did, but it’s proving to be quite the challenge. Did I really think it would be that easy?

Noah’s right. I should’ve thought through this idea more than I did.

I dove head-first, just to burn myself in the exact same way I did to Grayson.

What was I thinking?

“Let’s get out of here,” Grayson says as he walks towards me.

GRAYSON

I don’t think Violet truly understands the gravity of this situation.

It’s rather simple, actually.

I’m still mad at her, but I haven’t stopped thinking about her. None of it makes any sense, which means it’s not simple at all. It’s complicated as hell.

I drop my bag onto the table, pulling out a graphic tee. “Put this on.”

“No.” Her face is a blank canvas that an artist would have all the creative freedom they could possibly want to create a masterpiece on.

“Put. This. On.”

“Why?”

“Can you please put the damn shirt on?”

She rolls her eyes and grabs the shirt from me, throwing it on super fast. “Happy now?”

“Ecstatic.” Sarcasm is embedded all throughout my voice.

She’s wearing my vintage tee with a graphic of the rock band, Queen, plastered on the front. I can’t help but stare at her because she lookssogood in it.
