A shiver runs down to the base of my spine, causing me to wrap my arms around myself. Terror sits in the deepest part of my chest. Being alone with Emil in the middle of the storm after seeing him murder a person raises goosebumps on my skin.
Terror and arousal seem to go hand-in-hand with this man.
I clench my thighs together, imagining his finger between my legs again, strumming my pussy through my pants.
Desire burns through me, the silence becoming charged. I lose stability, falling into the kitchen countertop as the fog clears in my mind to let a memory slip through.
“I never thought a spitfire like you would be afraid of the dark.”
“It depends on who’s hiding in the shadows.”
“What if you saw me?”
Emil’s hot mouth is on mine before long. He pushes me onto the bed, perched between my legs as he slides his tongue into my mouth, brushing it fervently against mine, making me fall weak.
I crash onto the bed, my pulse shuddering my entire body.
“Tell me to stop, spitfire,” he murmurs low in my ear, making it impossible for me to say no. My brain no longer understands the definition of no, or self-control for that matter. Moans fall out of my mouth, speech made impossible as I let myself fall under his spell.
“You good?”
I snap back to reality, finding Emil’s hand snaked around my lower back. Feeling his rough hand against my skin makes me shudder, the desire becoming more intense.
I shake him off, refusing to let myself surrender. I don’t care how freaking natural it feels with him.
He finds my eyes in the darkness, a wicked smile spreading across his face. “You remembered our first time, didn’t you?” The cold tone contradicts the smile.
“Why did I sleep with you?”
“Because everyone wants a bit of evil inside them, no matter how much they deny it.”
Shadows cloak around me, my concept of right and wrong altered, the more time I spend searching Emil’s eyes. I know he holds all the answers.
Perhaps he might fuck some of the truth into me.
And I lose my senses at that. I zero in on his lips, leaning in, bringing my mouth to his. We collide in heat, flames roaring around us as he sweeps his tongue into my mouth.
My body takes over, my tongue moving fluidly over his, like it knows its way around his mouth.
Shock fills my body, my eyes flaring wide as I kiss Emil, and the way it seems to wash away the uncertainty I feel.
I lean into the kiss, running away with the feeling in hopes of recovering lost memories… until I lose myself in the kiss and forget why I started.
Moans fall out of my mouth. I claw Emil’s collar, needing him closer, craving him.
I’m aware of the murder, of all the ambiguity with the dockyard and Emil’s enemies, but fear adds fuel to the fire, making the flames even harder to distinguish.
Emil breaks the kiss, pulling away, searching my eyes in the darkness. He looks torn about something, one eye full of concern, the other heavy with desire. “You’re only doing this to remember.”
“I’m doing this because I want you too,” I blurt out, hooking his collar and pulling his face back to mine.
My heart beats with anticipation, every pulse representing more time of us not being together.
Arousal smooths over the harsh ridges in my head, taking consequences and risks out of the equation. Emil is my antidote to feeling better after a very few chaotic days. Even with allthe chaos, Emil remains constant, that profound look in his eye always there.
And I’ve never been wanted like this before.
“You’re fucking impossible,” he growls before slinging me over his shoulder.
