“I told you I’d eat whatever. Some fries would’ve been fine, but I guess this salad will have to do.”

“I won’t be the cause of you falling off your fitness wagon. I got you a bowl of fruit too.”

“Thank you.”

We sat quietly for a few minutes while we enjoyed our food. I was starving as well because I hadn’t eaten since lunch the previous day.

“Once we settle everything here, we should drive your car home. I don’t want you coming back here for any reason.”

“What if it takes a few weeks for the repairs? You can’t stay away from your training that long.”

“I’m not leaving you here to handle this alone. I’m not trying to gloat or brag, but I have a lot of money, Lovie. I’ll find a gym I can use that has everything I need to train. I already talked to Fox, and he’ll be here tomorrow.”

“What about Maja?” I asked.

“Depending on how long we’re here, I’ll make arrangements if I need to.”

“You’ve already thought this through, huh?”

“I have, so let me support you in whatever way you need.”

“Okay. I’ll see if my friend Zena has any realtor contacts, since I’m not using the company Jordan worked for.”

“I can’t believe he changed his name to Jordan. I guess he needed a name to go along with his new face,” Major said, shaking his head.

“I wouldn’t believe any of this shit if it didn’t happen to me, or I didn’t witness it firsthand, but let’s table that conversation for a few minutes. We have a lot to talk about.”

“Yeah, we do.” He agreed. “Do you want to start with anything in particular?”

I still wanted to address his comments from last night, but after the orgasms he gave me this morning, I could hold off on that for a bit. He seemed regretful and had apologized, but he wasn’t off the hook. There was something else I felt was more pressing.

“Tell me what was wrong with you before you left for Atlanta.”

“After everything that happened less than twelve hours ago, you’d rather talk about my mood two days ago.”

“I would.”

He sighed, ran his hand down his face, then ate the last of his sandwich. I continued eating while waiting for him to finish chewing, forcing myself not to rush him.

“I was eavesdropping on your conversation with your therapist.”

“You what?”

I’d heard him, but I prayed I’d heard him wrong.

“I heard some of your conversation with your therapist. I know I shouldn’t have eavesdropped, but?—”

“You’re a piece of fucking work. It’s like you don’t want us to work, because you keep doing dumb shit to mess everything up. You listened to my therapy session, Major. That’s a violation of my privacy.”

“I know, and I was wrong, but I can’t take it back now.”

“I’m guessing something I said bothered you.”

“Yeah.”

“Good. It serves you right. Maybe next time someone is having a private conversation, you won’t violate their privacy.”

“I’ll do my best, but can we talk about what I overheard?”
