“Dee, you might want to talk some sense into your boy,” Brax said.

“Major—”

“Lovie, chill, baby. This is out of your hands now. I’m prepared to deal with the consequences of whatever actions I’m forced to take.”

A notification sounded from my phone, which Major still held in his hand. We looked at the screen at the same time, and my heart skipped a beat when I saw that it was my security system.

“Did you have any idea he was crazy?” Major asked.

“No.”

“Some men wait a few months to show their true colors. It’s good you found out early,” Brax said.

“We dated for almost two years, and he’s never shown signs of being crazy until recently.”

“Damn! Two years and no signs? He’s a calculated kinda crazy. My sister almost married somebody like that. One day, she did something simple, and it rubbed him the wrong way. He snapped, and me, my brother, and our Pops almost killed his ass,” Jrue offered.

“Which is why you should understand why I’m gon’ lay hands on this nigga,” Major said.

“Nah. We ain’t have shit to lose aside from you firing us. We won’t let your career end by suspension,” Brax said.

“Not to mention all the shit you got planned after you retire,” Jrue added.

Major didn’t respond to his friends, but his expression said it all. He didn’t give a damn about what either of them said. If there was an opportunity for him to choke Jordan out, he would take it.

“There’s his car,”Dynastie said, pointing at a vehicle parked in front of the building.

“Does your condo face the front or the back?” I asked as Jrue drove past the front of the building.

“Both.”

“Is there another entrance into the building?”

“Yeah. Two side entrances.”

“Bet. Jrue, park on the corner. Baby, you feel comfortable staying here alone until I come back and get you?”

“Yeah. This is a safe neighborhood. My unit is 201, and it’s the closest to this end. Here’s the key to my apartment, and the code to enter the building is 20138.”

Jrue parked, and he and Brax got out, giving me a few minutes alone with Dynastie.

“Major, please be careful. I don’t want you to?—”

“I’ll be fine, baby.”

“I know, but?—”

“Lovie, I know it’s been a long time, but you ain’t forgot what kinda nigga I am. I’m not letting this shit slide.”

She nodded in understanding before saying, “Be careful. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

We exchanged a kiss before I got out. Brax’s and Jrue’s eyes were on me as soon as I stepped onto the sidewalk.

“I hate going in here naked,” I said.

“You don’t have a choice this time, but we got you covered,” Jrue assured me.
