“You’re still on the pill?”
“I stopped taking them for about four years, but I’ve been back on them for almost two years.”
“Don’t get mad if them bitches come up missing,” he warned.
“Missing how?”
“If I come across them, I’m flushing them down the toilet.”
“Major, that would be very rude and—and—and caveman of you. I take having children very seriously, and I want to be ready, mentally and physically.”
I tried to hide the anxiety that was building inside me because the thought of being pregnant sent me spiraling. I couldn’t let him see that because he’d have a million questions that I wasn’t ready to answer.
“I hear you. Being a parent ain’t for the faint of heart, but I meant what I said, so you better hide them bitches real good. Are you going back to Onyx City?” he asked, thankfully, changing the subject.
“I have a whole life there. Why wouldn’t I?”
He reached around me and pulled my body on top of his. I looked into his eyes as he spoke.
“Because everyone you love is here.”
Almosteveryone I loved was in my hometown, but I couldn’t tell him that because then I’d have to explain.
“True.”
“Baby, I didn’t tell you how I felt years ago, but I won’t make that mistake again. I want you here with me. Please come home, baby.”
“But what if I pick up my whole life and move back home, and things between us don’t work out?”
“I believe with everything in me that we were meant to be together, and I know you do too, but we won’t know if we don’t try. Be honest with me. Is there something or someone keeping you in Onyx City?”
“Nothing is keeping me there, but I do enjoy the life I’ve built for myself.”
“I’d move there with you, but I can’t leave Maja.”
“And I’d never ask you to do that. I’m not opposed to coming home, but you’d better not do anything to make me regret it.”
“I promise you won’t regret it. Now, ride this dick.”
“I knew if you agreed, everything would fall into place,” I told Dynastie.
“I’m glad I could help.”
“This wouldn’t be happening if you hadn’t agreed. We’re glad you changed your mind,” Brax said.
“I’m glad I did too, for a few reasons,” Dynastie replied.
“Do I need to leave the room?” Brax asked with raised brows.
“Nah. We’ll wait until you leave,” she told him.
We’d just had a video call with Jaton, the head of the film crew that Dynastie suggested I hire. He had a team of six people, and although they were small and not well known, I liked what he had to say. Plus, the idea of giving someone just getting started an opportunity like this seemed like the right thing to do.
“I appreciate that. So, I can tell by your responses and reactions that you like what Jaton is offering,” Brax said.
“I do.”
“I do, too, but we don’t want to be hasty and take the first offer. His team’s lack of experience concerns me, and I know once we talk to the rest of our team?—”
