Her voice catches and her eyes mist. She reaches for Patrick’s hand, clears her throat.

“There are no words for that pure feeling of freedom. To just ... be. Me.”

Trinity:

“Some of the spy cam footage we’ve used for the production shows Arrabella Fairfax with Patrick in their suite. It shows the Dr. Gideon Marsh party, and also reveals some startling clips of Avi Galev in his room with a garrote.”

Helen:

“Avi gave me that footage, and yes, some of it does reveal nefarious things about him. Law enforcement will try to follow it up. But somehow I doubtanyone’s ever going to find the ex-Mossad operative. I think Avi felt secure about this when he gave me the USB drive.

“The theory is that Avi killed Theo Pappas using the garrote. In the process he likely severed Theo’s carotid artery, which caused blood to spurt everywhere, including all over Dr. Gideon Marsh as he fought to save Carter. A postmortem confirmed the blood on Dr. Gideon Marsh’s body was all Theo’s. The autopsy also determined that Dr. Marsh’s old heart just stopped. He exerted what was left of himself during his Herculean physical effort to save his grandson from going overboard.”

Trinity:

“And the cam footage that includes Arrabella Fairfax?”

Patrick:

“Arrabella agreed to allow the use of some of the clips that included her. We came to a signed financial agreement.”

Trinity:

“And you obviously broke off the engagement.”

Patrick:

“It was clear after the cruise that we were over. Arrabella leftP.L.U.S.H.for a position withÉlan Magazinein Manhattan. She says it’s a good fit—both the magazine and New York.” He gives a rueful smile.

“She told me that while she once thrived in London’s more mature, self-deprecating, and politely brutal culture, she feels a relief in New York—it’s like a mask taken off. She says there’s a rawness, a velocity, an urgency, a restless hungry competitiveness and unashamed pursuit of success.” A pause. “She says it suits her.”

Trinity:

“And as per your request, both your and Helen’s share of the proceeds from this season ofIt’s Criminalwill go toward another organization founded under the Harrington Foundation—called Poppy’s Umbrella?”

Patrick:

“That’s correct. Poppy’s Umbrella was launched a year ago. The organization funds shelters around the globe and provides legal resources for abused women and their children.”

Helen:

“We want to help create sanctuaries where women feel safe—where they know they’re never alone, and that thereareways out of their circumstances.”

She pauses.

“Our goal—my goal—is that no woman ever feels so terrified, so trapped by a dire or dangerous situation, that she’s compelled to abandon an infant,or a child. There will be legal support, financial aid, education, community.

“Patrick has helped make this possible—it’s a flagship initiative of the Harrington Foundation.”

Trinity:

“Tell me about you two—how it happened. The marriage?”

Patrick:

He laughs. His eyes are alive and reflect the cobalt blue of the Aegean behind him.
