“You could kiss me.”
“Hmm.”
“What kind of hmm is that?” I asked.
“This kind.”
He put his hands slowly up to the sides of my face and pushed back into my hair. Lowering his lips onto mine, he pressed gently, angled his mouth, and then he consumed me.

Athroat clearing interruptedus. We jumped apart.
“Would you like me to box this up?” the waiter asked.
We both nodded and said yes at the same time.
“Dessert, madam, sir?”
“I haven’t eaten my meal,” she said. “And neither have you.”
I shrugged.
“I might have to have the chocolate ganache,” Tabs told the waiter.
“Sir?”
“Actually, I don’t have a sweet tooth. Nothing for me.”
The waiter nodded, took the dessert menus, and swept away.
I looked up to Tabs. “All the sweetness I need is right here.” She groaned, and I laughed. “All my game has completely disappeared around you.”
But I kissed her again.
“I wouldn’t be too sure about that,” she said. After a short space of time, which we filled kissing some more, the waiter put a silver dish of chocolate pudding in front of Tabitha and our boxed meals on the table.
I took a good look at the silver dish. “It’s just posh chocolate pud,” I said with a smile.
With a mock glare, she scolded, “It’swarm, double-chocolate pud.”
“Excuse me, I’m just a butler’s grandson.”
Usually, she got furious at those kinds of comments. “You don’t fool me. As his grandson, you know everything about etiquette.”
I winked at her. It was true, but I didn’t care about dining protocols.
Glowing, she picked up the spoon, plunged it into the gooey mass of chocolate, and scooped it into her mouth. She groaned, spoon still in her mouth, motionless, her eyes widening. Slowly, she slid the spoon from her lips and licked the last of the chocolate from it.
She held the spoon and lowered her eyelids, savoring her bite. All that heated energy from her rolled across the table and slithered down onto my lap. I shifted and squirmed and discreetly pulled at my trousers.
I sucked in a breath. “Good?” I asked nonchalantly, not wanting her to feel self-conscious, and because maybe I wanted to witness that again.
“So good,” she said innocently. “You have to try.”
“No, it’s funny. No one ever believes me, but I really don’t like sweet things.”
