"Look at me," I demand, barely holding onto my own control.
Her eyes flutter open, dazed and sated and still burning with residual pleasure. Looking into her face while buried inside her body breaks something fundamental in my chest—some barrier I didn't know I was maintaining until it shattered completely.
I kiss her as I chase my own release, the rhythm becoming erratic as control slips away entirely. She holds me throughit, her hands gentle now against my face, her body accepting everything I need to give.
When my orgasm finally crashes through me, it feels like more than physical pleasure. It feels like recognition, like completion, like finding something I didn't know I'd lost. I bury myself as deep as possible, shaking with the intensity of it, her name falling from my lips in broken repetition.
"Lenna. Lenna. Lenna."
The aftershocks leave me weak, barely able to support our combined weight against the stone. She's trembling too, her face pressed against my shoulder, her breath coming in ragged gasps that match my own.
I don't want to withdraw. Don't want to break this connection that feels more real than anything else in my life. But eventually I have to, carefully lowering her until her feet touch the ground, though I keep my arms around her because I'm not sure either of us can stand alone.
We stand there in the moonlight, skin cooling in the night air, and I feel the weight of what just happened settling over us like a physical presence. I should feel regret, maybe, or concern about consequences. Should worry about the inappropriateness of sleeping with a human laborer, or the implications this will have on stable operations, or any of the hundred logical concerns Damiros would immediately list.
Instead, I just feel complete.
She fits against me perfectly, her head tucked beneath my chin, her hands resting against my chest where she can probably feel how hard my heart is still pounding. My fingers trace idle patterns across her back, learning the landscape of her skin, memorizing the way she responds to different touches.
It's clear that we don't know what to do. There are so many complications I haven't begun to untangle—her status as a laborer, my position in House Virex, Damiros's obvious concernabout my behavior, the memory-like quality of dreams and sensations we both experience but can't explain.
But this feels too right for me to just ignore.

LENNA
Islip through the stable corridors on unsteady legs, my body still humming with the aftershocks of what just happened. Every step feels foreign, like I'm relearning how to move through space after something fundamental shifted. My skin remembers the pressure of his hands, the heat of his mouth, the way he said my name like it was the only word that mattered.
Malrec.
Even thinking it makes something flutter low in my stomach—equal parts desire and confusion and a terror I don't know how to name.
We said goodnight at the pasture entrance. He'd helped me dress with hands that trembled slightly, his fingers lingering on my skin in ways that suggested he didn't want to let go. The silence between us carried weight I couldn't interpret—acknowledgment of what we'd done, maybe, or shared uncertainty about what happens next.
I didn't know what to say, so I said nothing. Just touched his face once, feeling the slight roughness of his jaw beneath my palm, before turning and walking away on legs that barely supported me.
Now I'm navigating the servant corridors in the pre-dawn darkness, trying not to think about how right everything felt. How his body moved against mine with familiarity that transcended logic. How every touch, every kiss, every whispered word felt like remembering rather than discovering.
I turn the corner toward my quarters and nearly collide with someone standing in the hallway.
"Len?" Nimae's voice cuts through my spiraling thoughts. "Where have you been?"
My heart lurches into my throat. She's wearing her sleep clothes, her violet eyes sharp even in the dim corridor light. There's concern written across her features, curiosity too, and something that might be knowing.
"I—" The words stick in my throat. "I went to the stables."
Her eyebrows rise. "After kitchen staff hours?"
I glance down the corridor, checking for other servants or guards. The hallway is empty, but sound carries strangely through these stone passages. Without thinking it through, I grab Nimae's wrist and pull her into my room, closing the door behind us with more force than necessary.
The space feels too small suddenly, my narrow bed and sparse belongings creating walls that press in from all sides. Nimae watches me with patient attention, waiting for an explanation I don't know how to give.
"Are you alright?" she asks finally, her tone careful. "You look?—"
"I slept with Malrec." The confession bursts out before I can stop it. "Tonight. Just now. At the feeding pasture."
Nimae's expression shifts through several emotions too quickly for me to track—surprise, concern, and something that might be resignation. She sits on the edge of my bed without asking permission, gesturing for me to join her.
