Running at full speed, she took off down the hall, and ran right into the hard chest of Storm.

He grabbed her arm roughly. “Where do ye think ye’re going?” he spat, his hot, fetid breath assaulting her face. He dragged her behind him, her shorter legs no match for his long strides. She kept losing her footing, which only angered him more.

“Let go of me, ye knave,” Seonag yelled. She tried pulling her arm out of his grasp, but it was of no use, he was too strong for her.

He stopped in his tracks and pulled her body up close to his, their faces mere inches away from one another. “Stop fighting me.”

She formed her free hand into a claw and swiped at his face. Satisfaction warming her soul when she made contact and he pushed her away with a curse.

But not for long. “Ye bitch.” He swung out and slapped her cheek, the smack startling her, before he grabbed her arm once again and dragged her forward.

“Ye killed my father.”

He drew up short and looked her in the eye. “Aye, I did. The bastard wanted to be honorable and not keep all the gold he was transporting. The fool.” He spat. “The gold is enough to fund our endeavors for many months to come. He was a fool to no’ want to keep it for himself.”

“He wasna a fool. My father was an honorable man.”

“He was a pirate. He was a fool to think he could do the right thing. That’s no’ what we’re aboot.”

Storm began to pull her along again. She tried to reach down into her boot and grab the dagger Peggy had given her earlier. At the time she had no idea she would be put in this situation. But as she fumbled along, she knew in her heart it was the right time.

This was her time.

Her time.

Seonag would make her father proud. Her fingers closed around the hilt of the dagger and she pulled it out, careful not to lose her grasp. Storm wasn’t paying any attention to her other than dragging her along.

She raised her arm and with all her strength, thrust it into the center of Storm’s back.

He dropped her arm and staggered back, trying to reach the blade that was now protruding from his back, a shocked look upon his face.

“Ye feckin’ b—” He fell to his knees before he could finish his sentence, before falling face down on the floor.

Seonag didn’t wait to see if he still breathed. She ran topside so she could cross back over toThe Hella. As much as she loved her father’s ship, right now, she just wanted off of it. Storm had forever tainted whatever good it once had held in her heart.

As she ran, she sent a quick prayer up to her father and whispered, “I did it, Da.”

Chapter Eighteen

Colin was bothfurious and relieved as he waited for Needle to boardThe Hella.

Furious that he didn’t know the truth yet.

Relieved that she wasn’t hurt.

He stood, shoulders back, arms crossed with his mouth in a firm line. He was sure he looked like a mad bastard, but he didn’t care. The worry and concern he’d felt these past hours was nearly unbearable and he wasn’t happy about it. He hadn’t been worried like this for as long as he could remember.

And he didn’t want to be in a situation like this again, ever.

As she crossed the deck, Colin made a move to step forward and was instantly blocked by every single member of his crew.

They formed a line, a barrier of sorts, between he and Needle.

“What the hell do ye think ye are doing?”

Peggy stepped forward. “Protecting the lass.”

“Are ye daft, man?”
