Before Colin could comprehend what was happening, Sean launched himself, or herself, at Storm. Peggy caught her and pulled her away, but she fought against him, her arms and legs flailing to escape Peggy’s strong grasp.
What the hell just happened?
Colin was so confused at this turn of events, he just let Storm climb back onto the plank and reboardHades Revenge.
And then realization hit him like a ton of stone. The effeminate way Sean moved. His small bone structure. He wasn’t a runt. He was a goddamned lass.
Colin had never felt so betrayed in his life. She’d been lying to him from the moment they’d first met. Why? What reason would make her do such a thing?
His hands clenched into fists at his sides. She kneweverythingabout him. His plans, his books. She’d played him for a fool.
Sean, no, what had Storm called her?Seonaglooked at him, pleading with her blue eyes for what? Understanding. He shook his head.
No.
“Honey,” she cried. “I can explain.”
He shook his head. “Dinna. I dinna want to hear a word from ye.”
His heart beat so loud he could feel the pump in his chest. He felt…humiliated.
“Mac!” he called out.
“Aye, Cap’n.”
“Lock her up below deck. I dinna want to see her face right now.”
“Honey, no!” Seonag cried out. “Please, no! We both want the same things!”
He glared out at the water. At the ship opposite them. At the bastard Storm as he stood there, cross-armed, laughing at him.
“Get her out of my sight!”
“Right away, Cap’n!” Mac answered and grasped Seonag by the arm and pulled her toward the steps that would lead them below deck.
“No!” she yelled, trying to slap his hands away, but she was no match for the burly man. He picked her up, threw her easily over his shoulder and hauled her downstairs.
In the pastcouple of weeks Seonag had spent on the ship, exploring, cooking, helping those who needed it, she never came across the room she now found herself locked in. Like a prisoner.
The barely restrained anger marring Honey’s handsome face as Mac dragged her from topside to below deck would be forever seared in her mind. He was furious.
She understood his reaction. But she was still surprised to find herself locked away.
The metal clank of the key turning in the lock echoed in the empty space of the room. He hadn’t said a word as he walked away. Pain pierced her heart as if she’d been stabbed with a heated blade. With the back of her hand, she swiped at the lone tear rolling down her cheek. This wasn’t how things were supposed to happen.
Everything transpired so quickly. One minute Storm was in front of her and she was ready to confront him and the next, he was calling her out. Making her identity known to Honey and his crew.
The audible gasp that rippled through the men couldn’t be missed. She’d learned enough about Honey in the time she’d spent with him to know that he thought people would see him as a fool.
How could he not know he had a woman onboard? She’d like to think it was because she’d done such a good job and hiding her true self, but she didn’t think that was the case. There were times when she’d almost slipped.
And times where Honey looked at her funny. As if he knew something was amiss but couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
The feelings she had for him had been growing deeper by the day. Did he feel the same way? The heaviness of believing Honey actually having feelings for her being true draped her in a feeling of unease. If he felt anything for her, he couldn’t say anything. He wouldn’t even be able to admit to himself what he was feeling.
His crew wouldn’t take kindly to that revelation.
But none of this was how she had foreseen her reveal to Honey happening.
