“I’m going to leave early and let you two try on your outfits. A word from the wise, let yourself be surprised by her before the mission. I think you’re going to really love what they picked out.”
Desi leaned over and kissed my cheek, sliding a burner behind my ear and tossing a box of more into my lap. I reluctantly smiled, making a big show of wiping my skin as she stood. “You don’t actually have to go, Desi. Sorry for being a dick. I’m sure you have a ton you want to talk to Nova about. Stay.”
“That can wait. Good luck on your mission. Don’t forget to not die,” she said as she tied her cloak.
Laughing outright now, I nodded. “Will do.”
“Oh, and Az?”
“Yeah?”
“We’re happy if you two are happy.”
Chapter Twenty-Three
Nova
“Celeste taught me how to put on kohl today. It looked better on her though. I wish I had Mama’s eyes too.”
-From the journal of Nova Tershetta, 9241 AS
Someone’s mouth was on my hip, tickling the skin there. Humming, I lifted myself, urging them to continue. A deep, guttural chuckle rang in my ears like a symphony.
Eyes still closed, I searched for their hair, gripping it and guiding them to the side. They followed without any resistance, their teeth grazing my inner thigh.
Breath speeding up, I opened my eyes, catching sight of bright hair. My heart hammered as he tilted his face forward, his gaze locking on mine. And then his tongue slid out, swiping up my soaked center. My hips bucked, a filthy moan escaping me. He sucked on my clit, his tongue swirling around it before flicking back and forth at impressive speed. A sort of whine began in my throat, my hand shoving his face further down.
“Little Void?” His voice sounded concerned, but when I looked, he was still greedily consuming me, the pleasure so great I thought I’d explode. “Tershetta, wake up!”
I shot up, my head slamming into something on the way. Elbows catching my upper half, I groaned, reaching up to grip my aching forehead.
The room was dark, only moonlight shining in the window offering any visual. I turned to my right, watching as Altair rubbed his forehead as well.
“Sorry,” I mumbled. He only laughed, shaking his head
“No, it was my fault. I didn’t mean to startle you.”
Altair’s face was momentarily lit by the moonlight, looking like a fallen star. My cheeks heated, the memory of that face between my thighs making my legs clench.
“You were moving around a lot,” he said, his smile growing wider.
No, please tell me he doesn’t know.
“In fact,” he said, scooting closer to me, “I’d say whatever you were dreaming about was quite pleasing.”
Trying to hold onto any semblance of pride I still possessed, I lifted my chin, not breaking eye contact. “It was a nightmare, actually.”
His long fingers wrapped around my hair, my mind betraying me as I picturedmyhand inhishair and those fingers inside of me. “Do you want to tell me about it? We can reenact it if you’d like. Help you overcome whatever it was.”
Was he even closer? Yes, he was. Stars, what was happening lately?
“Actually, I think I’ll be fine. I’m going to go back to sleep.” I rolled over, wishing I could crawl into a hole and die of the embarrassment.
Altair’s fingers left my hair slowly, a single digit grazing my bare shoulder. His whisper came a second later, sounding like a filthy promise. “Sweet dreams, Little Void.”
Pinching my eyes closed, I tried to ignore the way my body shivered, biting back the moan that begged to escape. Altair’snearly silent chuckle was the last thing I heard from him. Well, the last thing I heard from him while awake.
