Angrily, I slammed my gloves at him and stormed off. He’d no idea. No one, except Katie and Romeo, did. They might experience pain for me, but nobody had been helplessly trapped in their minds. I’d had the power to save myself, and that had been stolen. I don’t give a fuck what it cost; no fucker would ever do that to me again.

Worried, I eyed the man as he crossed the street when I did. He kept watching, and I guessed I was in trouble. I should have waited for Daddy, but I thought I was a big girl at eight.
Right now, I felt really small. The wheels on my wheelchair spun fast. I still used it, but the pain was going away for longer, and there were days I didn’t need it.
Scared, I moved across the road, and the man followed. Now I needed to choose. Did I cut through the park or head down the main road?
The stranger stepped in front of me and grinned. I didn’t like his smile. This was a mistake; it was getting dark, but Daddy hadn’t come. No other mommies had stayed. I don’t think they liked me much.
And worse, this weird man was following me.
I turned the knob, and my electric wheelchair rolled away and headed into the park. There were people there, so I should be safe. Someone grabbed my chair’s handles, and I screamed.
“Hey, your Daddy sent me to collect you.” The stranger grinned.
“Lie!” I yelled. There were some ladies nearby, but they were busy talking.
“Come on, kiddo, let’s take you somewhere safe. Daddy will want to know you’re okay,” he stated in asmarmy tone. Just like Katy Anderson before she attempted to get people into trouble.
“Let me go!” I screamed. Attention was what I needed. Mommy and Daddy had always said if someone tried to take me, scream and yell. “You’re not my dad!”
“Shut the fuck up, you little shit!” the guy snarled and got in my face. In fear, I pressed back against the chair.
“You’re not my dad. You’re not my dad!”
“What’s happening here?” a guy yelled, and I heard running feet.
The stranger who’d been threatening me leant forward. “Tell Warden, the Bloody Scorpions say hi.”
“Hey! Let her go!” the other person shouted.
The stranger licked my face and ran off. Instantly, I began sobbing as someone approached.
“Are you okay?” he asked, crouching down.
Crying, I shook my head, trying to find my phone. My tears got worse when I realised the battery was dead. Ham was always telling me to charge it.
“Daddy? What’s wrong with her?” a girl demanded, and I looked up to see a pretty girl my own age. Behind her stood another, a bit younger.
“She’s scared. Honey, I’m Mike Adams, and we need to take you home. Do you know where you live?” Mike inquired. I nodded as he pulled out some tissues, and I wiped my nose.
“These are my kids, Raven and Robin. Do you have someone’s phone number that I can call?”
I shook my head, my tears beginning to stop.
“Mr Adams, I want Mommy and Daddy,” I whispered, and Mike smiled kindly.
“Okay. Come on. I’ll take you home. Who’s your mom and dad, kid?” Mike said.
“Will you hurt me?” I demanded, wiping my nose.
“Hell no!” Mike looked offended, and he was telling the truth.
“You’ll take me straight home?”
“Yes, honey. We need to tell your parents exactly what happened. What’s your name?” Mike asked with a kind smile.
