“Like hell you are!” Cadence yelled, sprinting past him and swatting the back of his head with a loudthwack.

“OW! That’s assault! I’m being bullied by a child!” Evan’s voice trailed off into the yard, followed by the loud thump of the SUV’s hatch opening.

Silas and I stood in the door, watching the herd scramble toward the driveway. It was a beautiful, chaotic kind of mess.

We headed for my heavy-duty black Silverado. It was the only thing I owned that felt as solid as the life I was trying to build. With our own small cooler and Silas’s surfboard in the back, we pulled out of the driveway behind the SUV chock full of screaming siblings. And Evan.

“Can you believe it? We’re actually doing this. We’reactuallyengaged. My family is currently in a car with your sisters, heading to the beachto celebrateus.Seven years ago, I figured we’d both be either dead or in prison before we ever saw this day.”

Turning my hand over, I squeezed his hand, my fingers interlocking with his. “Did you ever honestly expect us to make it here? To the part where the fighting stops?”

“In my head? Always. Every time I closed my eyes in that house, I was here. In reality? No. I spent seven years convinced I’d destroyed the only good thing I ever had. I thought the Reed legacy was going to be the only thing I had left to hold onto.”

I felt a pang in my chest. The old, familiar ache of shared trauma. “I spent those years traveling, trying to pretend I didn’t care. I became Deadlock because it was easier than being the guy who got his heart ripped out by his best friend. The night we finally fixed it…in that hotel room…I was so sure you were going to walk out again. I was waiting for the ‘but’ or the ‘I can’t do this.’ When you didn’t, I felt like the world finally stopped spinning for the first time in a decade.”

“I couldn't have walked out,” Silas said firmly, his voice cracking just a bit. “You were always the finish line. Every road I took led me back to you.”

We sat in silence for a while, holding hands, the hum of the tires on the asphalt the only sound. It was wholesome and sweet, and I felt a peace I hadn’t known since we were kids training in Florida. But then, Silas shifted in his seat.

He let out a small, mischievous huff, and I could practically feel the shift in his brain. The innocence in his eyes, replaced by something a little more reckless.

“You know,” Silas started, his voice dropping an octave and gaining a dangerous edge, “I still owe you for that stunt you pulled in the bedroom before we left. Teasing me while the whole family was on the other side of the door? That was low. Even for you. You left me in a very uncomfortable state.”

I chuckled, thinking he was doing his usual all-talk, no-action routine. Silas was great at talking a big game in the car where he knew we were safe from interruption. “Oh? And what are you going to do about it, Reed? Give me a stern talking to? Maybe put me in a time-out?”

“Nah.” He smirked, his hand returning to his knee. “I was thinking of something a little more…immediate. Not to mention, I’m still a little annoyed about that plug you made me wear in Puerto Rico. I think it’s time for some payback. You want to mark your territory? Fine, but I get to mark mine.”

Before I could even process what he could mean by that, I heard the sharp, mechanical click of his seatbelt unbuckling.

“Silas, what are you doing?”

My heart nearly stopped as he leaned over the center console, his hands reaching for the strings of my swim trunks.

“Silas! No!” I hissed, my eyes wide as I gripped the steering wheel so hard my knuckles went white. “We’re on the fucking highway! Doing seventy-five! Silas, get up!”

“Make me.” His voice came from my lap, immediately followed by the unmistakable, agonizingly slow sound of my Velcro tabs pulling apart.

“Silas, I am driving a seven-thousand-pound truck!” My breath caught in my throat as his hands found the waistband of my boxers. “If we get into a wreck, Evan is going to kill us before the paramedics even have time to arrive!”

“Then you better pay attention,” he murmured, breath hot against my skin. “Because we just got engaged, and I now have to pretend you’re just some bro that’s at the beach with me, and I hate it. I hate every second I’m not allowed to touch you. So, I’m making sure before we go out there, you know exactly where you belong. You’remine, Kincaid. All of you.”

My low, wrecked groan echoed around the cab as he pulled my aching cock free and took me into his mouth. The sensation was immediate and overwhelming. A sharp, violent contrast to the mundane reality of the North Carolina highway. I felt the heat of him, the familiar, expert rhythm of his tongue, and my brain started to misfire.

“Jesus Christ.” My head fell back against the headrest for a split second before I snapped my eyes back to the road.

The highway was clear, but every time a car passed us, my hands tightened until the point of pain against the wheel. It was a dynamic mix of adrenaline and arousal bordering on a possible medical emergency. My right hand gripped the back of the passenger seat to brace myself, while my left stayed glued to the wheel in a death grip.

Silas held nothing back. He wasn’t just being playful, he was being thorough, using his hands and his mouth with a focus that told me he was claiming every inch of me. He swirled his tongue around the head of my cock, his suction deepening until I was seeing stars along the lines of the road. I could feel every vibration of not only the truck’s engine in my own bones, but the low hum from Si. It magnified the pleasure flowing through me until I was practically panting and drooling.

“Silas…baby…I’m gonna…” I never managed to finish that sentence. My vision was starting to blur around the edges as I tried desperately to focus on the bumper of Taylor’s SUV. But all I managed to feel was Silas’s mouth, his tongue, and the way his hands gripped my thighs.

I felt the build-up, the inevitable crashing wave of white-hot release, and I had to fight the urge to let go of the wheel and pull him up to take his mouth. It had me gripping the leather of the passenger seat so hard I thought it would tear.

When I finally came, it was violent. A shuddering release that made my leg cramp against the accelerator. I let out a choked sound, my head falling back for an agonizing second as the world dissolved into a blinding cacophony of sensations.

Silas stayed there for a moment, finishing what he started and swallowing every drop, before slowly sitting back up. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, looking entirely too amused and far too satisfied with his actions. Once he was buckled back into place, he simply looked out the window at the passing scenery, like he’d been checking the glove box for a map.

And not sucking my soul out through my dick.
