‘As long as it’s not haunted, you’ve got yourself a deal.’ Ellie could see that Fee was already imagining herself sitting at the desk with her laptop.
Mara spoke softly. ‘No ghosts. Just some unanswered questions for me.’
‘Oh. Well, in that case, can we move in today? It’s just that otherwise it’s another night in the motorhome and I don’t think Mark wants us at his garage overnight again. Plus, I think Marilyn’s water tank’s pretty low.’ Fee exchanged looks with Ellie. ‘That okay with you, babes?’
‘Okay with me.’ Ellie looked around her. It was a pleasant place. She could stay here.
‘Don’t see why not.’ Mara looked at her phone. ‘Can you give me a couple of hours to sort out a few things for you? I’d need to bring down some fresh towels, get some milk and bread in for you, that kind of thing.’
‘That sounds great.’ Fee jumped up and down on the spot, excitedly. ‘I can’t wait! This trip is turning out to be really fun.’
‘I could do with that cup of tea.’ Ellie smiled affectionately at her friend. ‘But, yeah. Let’s see what happens.’
