“I don’t want to dance yet.”

Sally’s face drops. “You don’t want to join us?”

I shake my head.

“Oh, okay. I’ll go back and tell him to forget about it.”

“You go, I’m happy to do my own thing.” Who am I to dampen her fun?

“We came here together. I’m not leaving you.”

I place my drink on a nearby table, pull out the bronze-colored card from my purse, and wave it in front of Sally’s face. “I might check this out.”

Sally puts her glass next to mine and plucks the card from my hand. “Where did you get this?”

“From the guy who wanted to have sex with me.”

“What do you think it is?”

Shrugging, I take the card back. “I’m not sure.” I glance up and see another level where people are mingling. I point. “Might be up there. Looks like a bird's-eye view of the club.” Maybe from that height, I can see where the man who resembles Kade has gone.

“Let’s go up there,” Sally suggests with no enthusiasm. Her heart is set on the guy from the bar.

“Go and dance. I’ll join you later,” I tell her.

“Are you sure?”

“Go and dance. I’ll be fine.”

A smile splits her face. “Thanks. Promise you’ll join us later?”

“Promise.”

With a quick peck on the cheek and a wave of her hand, she vanishes into the crowd. Feeling awkward standing on my own, I shuffle my feet. It’s my pathetic attempt at dancing on the spot. How does anyone dance to this noise anyway?

Finishing my wine, I place it on the table as I give myself a pep talk, telling myself I’m never going to feel comfortable if I don’t give things a try. I wander around the club for a while until I come across a set of stairs, and the sign above them reads, Observation Deck. I show the security guard my card, and he pulls back the chain and steps aside, gesturing for me to enter.

I take the stairs slowly, wondering nervously what I’ll find at the top. The floor is busy, but it isn’t as crowded as below. Servers carry trays of wine and champagne. Plush leather booths curve around black polished tables with silver ice buckets filled with bottles, and I decide it must be some kind of VIP area.

Across the space is the man I thought was watching me earlier. The man who looked like Kade. Except I can only see the back of him. He has the same cropped, dark hair. The same tall, broad, muscular build. He heads towards another set of stairs. Without thinking, I follow. There’s another chain blocking the way with a ‘no entry’ sign. I glance left and right to make sure no one is looking and duck under it. My heart knocks against my chest. Up ahead, the man who may or may not be Kade disappears into a room. Next to the door, there’s a window with slightly parted blinds. I decide I should peek inside to see if it really is Kade. I glance around to double-check that no one has followed me and then peer through the blinds.

My eyes bug out when I see a naked woman with long golden hair sprawled on top of a huge mattress in the middle of the room. The man ambles over to her, and she scrambles onto her knees, lust and excitement clear on her face. Why is there a bedroom in a nightclub? And why does he have access to it? Is this a club that has rooms to hire by the hour?

The decent thing to do is turn away, go back to the dance floor and pretend I didn’t see anything. Yet, my feet won’t move.

The man grips the woman’s hair.

I finally get to see his face, and my breath catches in my throat.

It’s Kade.

In my many fantasies about seeing him again, this is not how I imagined it. My stomach sinks. Which is so unreasonable. Was I expecting him to be pining over me? Thinking about me, like I have been thinking of him?

The woman unzips Kade’s black pants, reaches inside and removes a freaking weapon of an erection. I’ve not slept with a lot of guys. I don’t have much to compare with, but I do know none of them came close to Kade’s size.

Not able to drag my eyes away, curiosity pulls me closer to the window. Heat curls slowly through my body, desperate to know what’s going to happen next. She strokes the length of him before licking him like he’s her favourite ice cream. I shouldn’t be watching this. Any second now, I’ll walk away. Yet my eyes stay glued to the scene playing out in front of me. There’s a part of me that wishes I was brave enough to strut in there and tell the woman to leave. Because I want to be in that bed. This club must have some kind of mojo juice flowing through the air conditioning vents because never in a billion years would I ever think like that. The second I saw what was about to happen, I would’ve scampered away. Now, I’m watching Kade getting a blow job by a beautiful woman, and I’m jealous I’m not the one doing it.

The woman’s head bobs up and down as she pumps the base of him with her fist. Desire washes over me, warmth pooling between my legs. This is so wrong and so exciting at the same time. While I watch, my hand slides down to the hem of my skirt, and I slip my fingers under the fabric. I bite back a moan when I caress my fingers over my drenched panties.
