Obscene.

"Calm thyself, girl.We only wish to wean you from your poison. The others and I, we have come to release you from the collar and leash that muddy your mind and force you into silence."

Grime works its way off her filthy skin into the priceless fabric of my dress. What a waste of silk.Oil is practically impossible to remove and she's smearing her flesh secretion all over the place. What's next, relieving herself on the carpet like a common scoundrel?

At my limit of rendering comfort, I shove her away with disgust—I can only take so much.Sadie staggers several feet, barely able to catch herself from falling onto her pretty face.

Confusion brings tears to her washed out irises, tears I have no intention of entertaining. And the dejection?Move on.Life’s unfair as it is; she just happened to have drawn the shortest straw of them all. She's lucky she drew one at all.

I loathe her existence but, a tender-hearted thing doesn't need to know all of that. She has enough to hate herself for, such as being the reason she’s alone and why no one wants to come close. At birth, her parents gifted her to people who cared not for the tramp.Even as a child she begged for the attention of others—longing to be noticed though never accepted.

Cognizant, I grimace when her hands began their loutish floundering.I can no longer attend to her under these piteous conditions.Someone, please, take this miserable being away from me!The heel of my shoe groans as I spin to march away.Perhaps if I don't see her or hear her my mood will improve.

"Follow my voice, girl. There is much for you to see, and we are almost there."

"Wh...where are we going?"Her naked feet carry her a short distance behind me, through the dimly lit crevices of her mental prison.

I spoke too soon.

"To a place where you will be shown what you're truly capable of and why you need not worry what happens next."

She sniffles and I roll my eyes.Shall we milk emotions for everything they're worth, or pull on our most impressive undergarments and press on?

Like ladies should, I gather my over-skirt and lift to make way for my shoes. It would be nonsensical to scuff the fabric when the floor transitions from bottomless black to mud and water.

"Can't I just go home? Why did Kate take over? What do you all want with me?You've taken my life away, what more is there to have?"

Sadie pads along behind me, determined to keep up when the soft slaps increase and slow.It amuses me, makes me think of a lost pup.

"I was only asleep, is that wrong of me?"

I scoff over my shoulder.

"Do you not want to be normal, girl?In time you will understand. As of yet, you must follow and trust in me."

Spawn

Ihadadaughterlike you once.

"P…please stop talking."The hoarseness of the words rattle aimlessly in the air.

Her calm tone has the opposite effect she's intending. It makes me want to stab sticks deep into my ears, puncture the drums, and deafen myself to everything vying for my attention.Sadly, there's no point to be had when her sultry coo has always come from the inside of my mind, rather than the outside world like everyone else.

Liz passed me off to the ancient one a little bit ago.Her displeased grumbling and my unanswered questions were promptly ignored when this one's hand cradled the back of my neck and led me away.

She wasn't unremarkable by any means. They still feared her.Hid her from the world, erased all song and dance which worshiped her and her greatness.

"That has nothing to do with me.Stop.Talking!"

Between her voice and the ongoing roar of cars zipping over the bridge, my head has not stopped pounding.

Ka-dunk.

Ka-dunk.

Ka-dunk.
