“Classic. Why do guys do that?”
I shake my head. “No clue.”
“So then what happened?”
I shrug. “I went home.”
“That’s it?”
I nod.
“Damn. So what now?”
“I don’t know. I told him we didn’t need to talk about it, but all I can think about is how I haven’t found time for dating since I started watching Grey and now this happens.”
Natalie holds up her hand. “Question,” she says, and then holds up one finger. “First, why can’t you date Simon?”
“Because for as long as I’ve known him, he hasn’t dated anyone. If he wanted to date me, I think he’d have asked by now.”
“Okay, that’s fair. Second”—she holds up another finger— “if you don’t have time to date right now, why not have fun? If you and Simon don’t want to date but are clearly into each other, technically kissing isn’t dating, soooo… what’s the big deal?”
I stare at her. Huh. That’s true.
“Either way, he stopped it. I don’t know why, and I’m not going to ask. I actually want to date someone. Not just have fun.”
“But do you like him?”
She barely gives me time to answer before she grins.
“You totally do.”
“I do.”
“So why don’t you not date him for a while?” She winks. “At least until you meet someone worth dating for real.”
It’s not the worst idea, but given his choices last night, I don’t think he wants that.
I sigh and shake my head. “I think I’m doomed for a summer of sexual tension.”
“Bummer.”
Total bummer for sure, because as much as I’ll tell myself not to, I won’t be able to be around Simon ever again without thinking of the way his body felt against mine.
Summer of sexual tension? More like summer of pure torture.
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
SIMON
“I think I’ve got a problem.” I lower my computer screen. Any time one of us mentions having a problem with our current work in progress, our group as a whole is ready to dive in to fix it as quickly as possible. So they all stop what they’re doing to look up, and I feel guilty that it has nothing to do with writing.
“Chapter development?”
“Plot?”
“What act are you on?”
I scrub my hand over my face and groan. “It’s not with writing. It’s with Greer.”
