“Then keep going if you want, but you’re going to regret it later. Lilith invited us to dinner after my lesson and you never want to turn down a dinner party from Auntie Lilith.”
I mean, I was down and I had about a million questions for her. I was sure my demon friends did too because they were learning all kinds of things about their origins. I had a feeling she couldn’t stand the majority of these angels like I did and might have a different opinion than Satan and Abaddon. I was pretty sure Satan didn’t care for them that much either and had limited their time around his kids.
“Is the dinner party going to be full of prudish bitch pigeons?”
“No. Her dinner parties are legendary and she only invites people she likes. And even if she likes someone, she might not invite them if it’s a seven-course meal with a side of agenda. You’re a five-foot-eight agenda with bronze wings if I ever saw one.”
“I actually have my own agenda, thanks, but I’m willing to combine them.”
“I’m fairly certain your agenda, my agenda, and Lilith’s agenda are all aligned. My dad’s too, but she told me the only angels allowed at her party are the half breeds, so Dad is going to need to prove himself to her until she rules all the Fallen out. You’re going to need to dress up. Did you bring anything?”
Absolutely not. I wasn’t as attached to fancy dresses as I was to comfy yoga pants, broken in jeans, and my vast collection of book related tops. I associated dresses with funerals and boring events with pretentious people at my ex’s work.
“So, I’m a lot shorter than you, but you and my mother are about the same size. Mom has impeccable taste and a personal tailor. Her clothes are beautiful, but comfortable. They are also exactly what you would wear to one of Lilith’s dinner parties. She’d be happy to lend you something and I think you’ll like her style.”
“Take the outfit,” Nero said. “Satan’s wife is a succubus, so she’ll have decent taste and since she’s got a tailor, the dresses will be done with wings in mind. I’ll bet you look fantastic.”
“Ooh, can I pick it out?” Wrathhog said. “I’m the only girl of the family. I never had sisters to do makeovers with.”
“I didn’t have siblings at all and from what I know about her, IlikeLilith. Eliza Doolittle me because I want to make a good impression.”
“You already did or she wouldn’t have invited you. Get cleaned up and I’ll be back with dresses. And I can get suits for the guys from my brothers’ rooms. I have enough brothers to put something together and they are all scared of me, so they won’t say anything if it’s me who raided their closets.”
Wrathhog was pocket sized, but yeah, I could see her terrorizing her much larger brothers. I really wouldn’t have minded dragging Nero and Celix into the shower with me, but I also knew damned well I wasn’t going to behave myself and I had a fancy dinner party to attend.
But we could play after.
Fuck me. I had my reservations about letting Wrathhog dress me up in her brother’s clothes, even for a fancy dinner with the Mother of Demons. I had very specific tastes and most of the angels I’d met so far were boring dressers. But damn, she was good.
She’d given me a white silk shirt, a black vest, and a black pinstripe suit with a maroon tie to finish it off. The suit wasn’t justexactlymy style if I had to wear a monkey suit. It was also comfortable, which was paramount. Ireallydidn’t want to sit through some seven course dinner with my neck getting pinched and my ass itching.
Wrathhog had dressed us all differently. Celix was wearing a black silk shirt and a red suit that only Celix could pull off. I hadserious doubts about this working on a half angel. She’d gone full black tuxedo with Nero and he looked good.
And then Sydney walked in. I thought I was prepared for her wearing the dress of a wealthy succubus and I really wasn’t. The dress was black satin and showed off her cleavage, but it was also slit up both sides to show off her legs.
Fuck me, she looked edible. And she was having uncontrollable telepathy, and I hadn’t fully manifested my mental shields to prevent her from reading my thoughts. Hopefully, it was still a jumble to her because she’d probably smash my nuts again if she heard what I was thinking right now.
“Do my tits look weird in this?”
Her ex had to be the dumbest motherfucker alive for saying anything negative about those breasts. Either that or he was one of those weak men who needed to make themselves feel better by picking at things that didn’t exist. Seeing as how he cheated on this magnificent creature, I was going with both.
“I put them in my mouth, remember? I can confirm your tits are perfect,” Nero said.
“Me too, so I can peer review that,” Celix said.
“You’re my cousin, so your tits aren’t going anywhere near my mouth, but whoever told you that is a fucking moron.”
I was desperately trying to hide my thoughts, but she really needed to know she looked spectacular. This wasn’t someone who knew she looked good and wanted us to stroke her ego. She looked like she was actually worried about it.
“Killer, listen close. Every part of you is perfection in that dress. Anyone who would say otherwise is a fucking moron who isn’t worth your time. If Nero hadn’t fucked your ex up, I’d do it Fury style just for planting that thought in your head.”
Sydney started fanning herself.
“Fuck, is it hot in here? That wasn’t a hot flash, it was all Kujo.”
“Show off,” Nero whispered, poking me in the ribs.
What? It needed to be said. She wasn’t just half archangel. Her great grandfather was also some type of angel. Anyone suggesting any part of her wasn’t physical perfection should be shot in the face. Or at least driven mad with Fury magic because they were just being cruel.
