Lilith told us it could be none of them and then all of them. Then, she stared at us like we were insane. Damn. She had that mom stare down. I knew I hadn’t done anything wrong, but I was wracking my brain anyway just in case maybe I did.
“I realize I’ve been gone a while, but why has no one done the spell for your wings? I developed it for demons, but it should work for anyone with wings.”
We literally all asked what spell at the same time. Even Wrathhog, who’d done nothing but help me so far. I didn’t think she’d keep some wing spell a secret from me with everything going on.
“You’re shitting me, right? What is everyone with wings doing when they come in?”
“Exactly what you’re looking at, though some of us had mothers who would love to mangle our wings, so we hid.”
Satan did that creeping thing and scared the shit out of me again. I needed to find out if there was a Hell equivalent of Chewy so I could buy him a collar with a bell.
“You can blame us for that. We knew it worked on demons, but no one was sure how the spell worked on angelic beings, so we never tried it. Mammon and Asmodeus found it offensive that certain demons had wings. They thought we were the only creatures who should be able to fly. They hid that information from all demons that answer to them. The Furies know about the spell, but they consider it a rite of passage. If their spawn get through it without damaging their wings, then they consider them full adults.”
“Sounds about right,” Kujo snorted.
“That’s fucked up. You can see how that’s fucked up, right?” I asked.
I didn’t mean the part where they didn’t know if it would work on people with angel blood. I meant the part where they put countless demons at risk of not being able to use their wings because of their giant fucking egos. Who cared if some demons could fly? Angels weren’t some hive mind. My fatherandSatan could have just said no and made sure they spell didn’t get buried.
“Sorry, dipshit, but you know angels and demons aren’t the only creatures with wings, right? Do you only vacation on the mortal realm? Fairy has countless winged creatures and then there’s the dragon realm,” Lilith asked.
“The Fallen aren’t exactly welcome there. Neither are angels, Lilith. You know this.”
“Because you’re a sausage fest with way too much drama. They let me travel there just fine. And my spell helpsanyonewith wings. Your father isn’t the only god. The others had creations too. You aren’t special just because you’re angels. You’re a magical creature created by a god just like the fae and dragons, asshole.”
I felt like I could settle this and I didn’t want to be stuck in this room any longer. I’d only just met Lilith, but I’d had a threesome with the results of her magic and it was the best sex of my life. The other angels might not trust her magic, butIdid.
“Do the spell on me. I believe you and this should settle it for future children with angelic blood.”
“Sydney,” Satan warned.
“No. I’m serious, it’s my wings and my choice. I want Nero, Celix, and Kujo to watch to spread this spell to the demons it was deliberately hidden from. In fact, if Hell has social media, I want it live streamed so everyone sees it.”
“We do and we can all stream it from our accounts,” Celix said.
“Sydney, you can’t put this back in the box once you do it. It’s going to wave a red flag in front of my brothers, who want this hidden. We know this works on demons, but it’s never been done on anyone with angelic blood before. If something goes wrong, that’s it. Demons will never trust this spell and it’s going to do the opposite of what you’re trying to do,” Satan said.
“I give two shits about pissing off your brothers.Youshould be pissing them off a lot more. You call tell which men haven’t been punched in the dick every time they got stupid. Do you see this?” I said, grabbing Nero by the ass. “Lilith’s magic made this possible. Same with all three of them. Celix and Nero’s parents made them amazing men and Kujo managed despite his mother. You don’t have to trust her magic because they aren’t your wings. I do and it’s my choice.”
I could be permanently fucking up my wings and ruining this for all of demon kind, but I just didn’t feel like that was going to happen.
Pissing off Mammon and Asmodeus was just a bonus.
She wasn’t what I was expecting when we found a fully naked adult instead of a child when the alarm went off. And she kept surprising me. Not all demons who got their wings could afford to recover in a posh suite in a mansion with servants taking care of their needs. Some of them couldn’t even afford to take one day off of work and had to risk their wings.
It wasn’t as swank as Satan or Lucifer’s place, but my mother had a giant house and servants. I couldn’t leave until I got my wings. I’d been counting down those days, but I also knew damned well my mother was going to fuck mine up so she could kick me out and have me shunned.
I trusted Lilith’s magic just as much as Sydney did. Lilith was more responsible for the magic running in my veins than mymother was. Sydney could have just asked for her wings to be fixed and us to spread the word, but she was having it recorded. People could watch the video until they got the spell down and Mammon and Asmodeus couldn’t bury it. As far as I knew, Abaddon was responsible for all social media in Hell and he was on our side.
Satan looked like he was about to have kittens and I didn’t get it. Hesaidhe didn’t want this information hidden, and he was a lot bigger than the worms who did. Of course, hesaida lot of shit andwewere saying a lot of shit around him. The logical explanation was that all of this had been Satan the whole time.
They all might trust him, but I was keeping my eye on him.
“So, I understand what you are trying to do and you boys really made a mess of things here. Which is why I’m going to be in your video directing things and Celix is going to do the spell,” Lilith said.
Bold choice. Felix demons were more known for their fangs and claws than being strong magic users. Theydidhave magic that all demons shared, just not any of the extras that demons like Nero and I had.
Having Celix do the spell would show all of Hell that any demon could do this and just because Felid and Canid demons didn’t have wings didn't mean they were lesser.
