I tear open the pod until I have her in my arms.

“Where have you been?” she asks me. “I was waiting.”

“I was right here, all the time,” I respond, stroking her hair from her face so I can study it, to make sure she is actually here, with me, and not another dream. “I would never leave you, my little spark. You are all my stars, all my moons. You are the light to my nova-day, the pulsar to my nebula. Without you, I am a collection of scales and bones. With you, I am the Sarkarnii warrior I should be.”

She flings her arms around my neck, her head buried into my hair and scales.

“I wasn’t sure I could ever be happy again, Dalox,” she murmurs. “But with you, here, on Vorostor, it’s the new start I needed, even if I didn’t want it originally. I want it now.” She lifts her head and studies my face. “I want you.”

“This is a good thing,” I rasp. “Because I have never wanted you more than in this moment.”

I gather her into my arms and lift her from the pod. It chimes at me, but I care not. I care I have my mate, awake and pressed against my chest. There is nothing which will ever separate us again.

GILLIAN

“Wait,” I say as Dalox carries me out of the medical area for the second time. “What happened to Dyana? Deus?”

“Neither are our concern anymore, my mate. Darax has dealt with his brother’s who is recovering, and I have made arrangements for Dyana to go back to the second continent when we go to retrieve the rest of the females who want to join us.”

“Deus…”

“He has admitted to allowing Dyana on board, in return for seeing his mate again. She has since confessed his mate died of sickness in the first wave whilst he was away, as he always thought, and deceived him in order to use him to get here.”

“Poor Deus.”

“He is a troubled male,” Dalox says. “He did, however, put himself between the disruptor and you and me when Dyana released a bolt and as such, his punishment for his traitorous behaviour will be light.”

I can feel Dalox moving beneath me, rolling as if he is limping.

“You got hit?”

“I will recover, little mate,” he rasps, fangs big in his mouth as we make our way to his quarters. “Once I shift to my Sarkarnii form.”

“No!” I squirm in his arms. “We need to go back. You need to go in the pod.”

“I do not need to go in the pod,” Dalox growls. “I need to shift, and I need to sheathe myself in your soft, hot cunt.”

Heat flares through me. I feel better than ever, as if the last few days haven’t happened to my body at all. As if Dyana didn’t try to squeeze the life out of my throat.

“Are you going to hook me?” I find myself panting slightly.

“If you wish it, little mate,” Dalox says, his eyes flaring with fire. “I will do whatever you want.”

The door to his quarters opens, and in less than a heartbeat, he has me in the deep pit which is both bed and seating. One claw slowly slices up the front of the strange hospital style gown I’m wearing.

“How did I end up in this?” I ask as the garment is peeled away to make me bare for him.

“The pod.”

“The pod? You didn’t have anything to do with it?”

“You were injured, my mate. I can assure you, I wasn’t looking at anything I shouldn’t.” Dalox gazes down on my naked body.

“I will have to take your assurances.”

“They are all you will get.” He dips his head to kiss my lips. My body rises to meet his, the feel of his cock through his tight pants, huge and throbbing, is, as it turns out, exactly what my body wants, newly refreshed or not.

I unbuckle his pants and slide my hand in, deeper and deeper into his pouch, pulling the thing free. My hand and arm are wet from his pre-cum as Dalox groans my name.
