I’m pulled from my musings by the sound of a splash. In a flash, I’m partially shifted and down by the pool. Maggie’s clothing is on the side and she’s already in the water, halfway across to where the water falls from a small spout.

Fortunately for me, and my unruly cock, I am not wearing any underwear and so I am in the water fast. I accept I have seen my female in a pool before, so I am well aware she can manage, but at the same time, I dislike her being in a situation where she might be in danger.

So, I pop up next to her.

And Maggie screams.

“Driok!” she splutters, having taken a mouthful of water. “Don’t do that!”

“Do what?” I squint up at the waterfall. It looks safe enough.

“Surprise me.”

“You were surprised?” I want to scoop her into my arms, knowing I risk envenomation but wanting to be sure she is secure.

“Not really,” Maggie says. “Maybe a bit. I’m always surprised at how something as large as a Sarkarnii can move with very little noise.”

“What would be the point of being a warrior if your enemy was expecting you because he could hear you?” I huff. “Being a warrior means being skilled, smart, and silent.”

“I get the silent part, but I think some of your fellow Sarkarnii are going to need to work on the smart bit.”

“Do you mean Dante?” I ask.

“I wasn’t going to name names,” Maggie says, swirling around in the water, and I already see, with some disappointment, she is wearing some sort of clothing, unlike last time. “But yes, Dante.”

“He is one of my fellow warlords,” I growl. “He fought alongside me in many a battle.”

“Oh.” Maggie stops and bobs in the water, her legs kicking beneath the surface. “Well, in that case…I still mean Dante. He’s absolutely one sandwich short of a picnic, and he’s mated to a good friend of mine.”

“One sandwich short of a peek-neek?”

“Okay then, one goblet of ale wine short of a hangover,” Maggie says, her eyes twinkling with mirth. “He’s not entirely present all the time, is he?”

I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard a better description of Dante.

My tail flicks through the water as I push my sweet mate up against the wall of rock, covered with a soft moss.

“I do not wish to hear another warlord’s name on your lips,” I rasp. “We are talking too much of other Sarkarnii.”

“Perhaps that’s because they were around while you were galavanting across the galaxy,” she retorts, her eyes blazing up at me.

This is the pretty little female I took to my bed, who set me off on a rut which was painful in the extreme while I was away from her, but worth it.

So very worth it.

MAGGIE

I’m caged by an enormous Sarkarnii, his tail lashing in the water behind him like the primeval beast he is. His eyes blaze, the slit pupils blown wide as his forked tongue flickers out from between his lips.

I remember the tongue.

I remember how he was hesitant at first, and then how Driok became emboldened, a little grunt of enjoyment when he worked out what was happening. How that made my heart flip over. How it changed everything.

How he made me melt.

How he made me feel.

“Little mate,” Driok rumbles. “I rutted for you.”
