My mate is filled with fire, and she makes my entire groin light up and gives me a pain in my chest from the amount of mating mix in my veins.

“Yes,” I respond. “I would.”

“Well, enjoy that thought, buster,” she growls at me. “Because it’s all you’re going to get.”

She strides down the passage toward the exit into the forbidden zone. I check behind me, only to see Dante and Darax grinning back.

Darax puts his hand over his chest and gives me a short bow which has nothing to do with respect.

“Good luck, brother,” he calls out.

“I’ve commanded armies. I’ve battled almost every force in all the galaxies. I’ve fought space worms for the ancestors’ sake. I do not require luck with my female,” I snarl back.

In reply, the airlock shuts behind me, and I see Maggie is already out of sight.

Racing to the second airlock, one which is permanently open by the looks of the vegetation which is slowly encroaching within the passage, I expect to see her somewhere outside.

There is no sign a small female was ever here. Nothing at all.

I look from left to right. Where could she have gone in such a short time? It’s impossible for her to disappear.

Impossible.

“Well?” A voice comes from behind me, and I turn with a yelp.

Maggie stands on a small rise, her hands planted firmly on her hips.

“This was your idea,” she says. “What do we do now?”

“I think you’ll find not going to my sector was your idea,” I reply.

“But being sent to alien jungle purgatory wasyouridea,” she responds. “Nice one.”

Maggie jumps down, and I instantly put out my arms, which she equally instantly avoids.

“Let’s get one thing straight, big guy.” Maggie glares up at me. “I am not some sort of doll you can pick up at whim and carry around. I walk. If need be, I run. I am not delicate and I won’t break if I do these things.”

“What is a d-holl?” I study her beautiful face, her bright eyes boring into me, making my cock ache once again.

“It’s an inanimate object children play with. I amnotyour plaything, okay, Driok?”

“Not yet.” I feel my fangs lengthening and my tail shifting, lashing behind me. “But you were once, and I look forward to the day you are again.”

MAGGIE

He is infuriating.

This was supposed to put him off. Take Driok and his ego out of his comfort zone. Make him feel like a fish out of water, like I did when I first arrived here.

Instead he’s taking it all in stride, his very long stride, given he’s seven foot plus of huge, scaly male. One with a large tail I kept tripping over as I followed him through the jungle-like plants until he found a particularly useful cave.

One which looks like it might have been used as a dwelling of some sort before, given there’s a hearth, blackened by soot and what looks like shelves carved into the rough stone wall. Proper cave…alien stuff.

Am I regretting my life choices at this moment? Yes.

Is it worth getting one over on Mr. Possessive Warlord? Also yes. Do I intend calling a halt to his experiment as soon as possible? Yes, yes, and yes.

But for the time being, it’s rather interesting to watch Driok as, muscles bulging, he collects firewood, finds a bunch of furs from somewhere, and makes up a sort of bed in one corner.
