Heart of my heart,
Soul of my soul,
We reunite,
To never let go.
Blood of my blood,
Bone of my bone,
We two are now one,
Our halves are now whole.
For the good of all,
With harm to none,
So let it be spoken,
So let it be done,
So mote it be.
Her lips slightly moving, Lyla read the words, then turned to Magnus. “What does it mean?”
He smiled. “’Tis the binding vow, my love. The oath that reunites our souls and melds them together as they were when time began.” Lifting her hand to his lips, he brushed the lightestof kisses across her knuckles. “But the choice is still yers to make.”
Eyes big and an even darker, more brilliant blue than usual, she stared up at him with her lips barely parted. “I choose you,” she whispered. Reaching up to touch his face, she said it again, louder, “I choose you.”
The tower chimes sang out with more strength than ever before.
Spirit soaring, Magnus gently turned her to face him, tucking both her hands against his chest, against his heart. “Repeat the words as I say them, aye?”
She nodded.
“Heart of my heart, soul of my soul.” He held his breath and waited.
“Heart of my heart, soul of my soul.” Even with her raspy voice, the words rang out loud and clear.
“We reunite, to never let go,” he said.
“We reunite, to never let go.”
“Blood of my blood, bone of my bone.” He brushed another kiss across her hands, soaking in the increasing magical energy swirling around them.
“Blood of my blood, bone of my bone,” she repeated, her hair fluttering in the waves of power as if she soared through the air.
“We two are now one, our halves are now whole.”
She moved closer, smiling. “We two are now one, our halves are now whole.”
“For the good of all, with harm to none.” He leaned down and trailed a tender kiss along the seam of her mouth.
“For the good of all, with harm to none,” she echoed.
“So let it be spoken, so let it be done.”
