Wait a fucking second.

“Hang on, Sage,” I say out loud.

“What about her?” Reaper asks.

“Sage, as in the Center, the one from Blood Moon Academy. The kick-arse one,” I explain in a rambling way that I’m not sure makes a lot of sense.

“No fucking way,” Farren replies, getting it quicker than anyone else. “That’s crazy. I thought their academy went back to the Demon Realm?”

“It did,” Rival says. “That was the gossip around the school, and I was curious, so I verified it. It shouldn’t have been in the Fae Realm in the first place.”

“Wow. I hope we get to see them again and talk to them properly at some point,” Farren says. “I like Sage. She seems like my kind of person.”

“Hopefully we will. I have some questions for her,” Rival mutters.

Leaves rustle to my left, and I’m not the only one who hears the sound as everyone tenses slightly and becomes more alert. Their gazes study the darkness around us.

“Incoming,” Laikynn says from the shadows.

Ever since Laikynn was warned not to get between Farren and us, it seems that he took the threat seriously, because they are no longer surrounding us as we walk but instead following behind us.

They’ve all been so quiet, and they even steered clear when Sage and the others showed up.

Which is interesting.

I’m hoping that it's because we were never under any threat and they didn’t need to be involved, instead choosing to observe in case they were needed.

The rustling comes again, and this time we all stop moving so that we can hear better.

None of us has time to react at all. The moment that we stop moving, we find ourselves surrounded by pointed spears, hands sparking with magic, and growls from hidden shifters.

“Ah, shit,” Hades curses, as he watches them all closely, his magic close to the surface.

“We don’t want any trouble,” Farren says calmly, flashing them a smile.

“Careful, Farren. They’re the Others,”Rast warns.

It takes me a moment to realise that he’s used the bond lines to talk to us, and then shock hits me.

How the hell is he using the bond line to talk to us?

We haven’t been using it because most of what we’ve spoken about he needs to hear too.

Apparently, that consideration was unnecessary.

Storm shoots him a quick, raised eyebrow look, and Rast winces slightly.

Yeah, that’s going to be an interesting conversation.

If I really think about it though, knowing what I know after my vision, it makes sense. He’s one of us, whether he realises it or not. So of course, he would be able to communicate through the bond line that we have.

I did think that it wasn’t going to be an instant thing. That I was not aware of.

“Got it, they haven’t attacked us yet though. I want to try and get out of this peacefully,”Farren replies, and then adds. “You bet your arse we’re going to talk about how long you’ve been able to use the bond line for later.”

“Yes, ma’am,”Rast replies immediately, which makes me smile.

“You usually do,” one of them says. “You compound killers always kill first and ask questions never.”
