“What are you going to do aboutthat?” Mom asked. I’d told her that Kaylee and Kayden had been spending more time together, I’d just left out the reason we’d all been spending so much time together until now.
I sighed. “I don’t know. But I’m hoping if she sees them both as her dad eventually, it’ll all be okay.”
Mom patted my knee again. “If you all love each other, you’ll navigate it just fine.”
I rested my head on her shoulder, hoping she was right. We may be ready to go public with our relationship, but we were going to have plenty of things like this to think about. The father-daughter dance was just the beginning, andthatwas the part that held me back from telling Kaylee. Because while my heart was convinced we were doing the rightthing, it only took a small reminder for my head to start to wonder if we were setting ourselves up for a lifetime of struggle.
“Hey, beautiful,” Kayden said, grinning as he stepped off the elevator. I’d buzzed him up to our private floor at the office because Cole had already gone home for the evening—like most people in the building. It was almost six o’clock and Jace was still on the phone with his office door shut.
Kayden approached me and bent down for a kiss before looking at Jace’s office. “He’s still working?”
“Yep,” I said, glancing at the closed door.
I’d asked Kayden to meet us here instead of at my mom’s as planned because I didn’t want him to get there before us. We were picking Kaylee up for the hockey game, and after talking to my mom today, I thought it would be an opportunity for Kayden to meet my mom before the wedding and lower the pressure for him. “I’ve sent him a half a dozen texts and he responds to each one withSorry, Liv. Almost done.”
“He’s on a call, I assume?” Kayden asked, looking in that direction again.
“Yes, with Martin. He called at five and screamed at me about another charity expense. One thatSuttonarranged,” I said, rolling my eyes.
“I’m sorry,” Kayden said, pulling me up by my hand and hugging me.
“It’s fine,” I sighed against his chest. “Jace heard him yelling through the phone and demanded I transfer Martin to him. I put him on hold, and he was screaming so much that when Jace picked up thecall, I was pretty sure Martin hadn’t even realized he’d been transferred until Jace tore into him for talking to me like that.”
“I’m glad he did,” Kayden said before looking at his watch. “We still have to pick up Kaylee before the game, so should we go in there and move him along?”
A twinge of arousal ran down my spine. “Please tell me this means something fun and dirty to you.”
He laughed and kissed my head. “Yes. I was thinking we give him a good reason to tell Martin to fuck off for the night. Show him what he’s missing.”
I stepped back and pulled him toward the office. “Let’s do it.”
Jace looked up as I slowly opened the door and pulled Kayden in behind me. Jace pulled the phone away from his ear and pressed the mute button. “I’m so sorry,” he said, running a hand through his hair. “Give me ten more minutes and I promise I’ll get rid of him.”
Kayden smiled and tugged me against his chest. “Ten minutes should give us enough time.”
Jace raised one eyebrow at us. “What are you—”
“Are you evening listening to me, Jace?” Martin’s voice came booming through the phone.
Jace sighed and unmuted the phone before putting it back to his ear. “Honestly, Martin. It’s six o’clock at night and you’ve been yelling for an hour. I’m just waiting for you to get to the point.”
I chuckled and tuned out their conversation as Kayden kissed me softly behind the ear, pressing slow gentle kisses down to my collarbone. He spun me around, his face still nuzzled in my neck as he slowly pulled down the zipper of my dress and grinned at Jace. “Take your time, babe. I’m going to take care of our girl.”
Heat flared in Jace’s eyes as he watched Kayden push the dress down over my shoulders and gently roll it off my body. I stood there in a lacy thong and bra and licked my lips as Jace’s eye roamed over me. Kayden squeezed my ass and turned me to face him again, consuming my mouth with his in a tongue-filled kiss.
He stepped closer to Jace, walking me backward until the back of my thighs hit the corner of Jace’s desk. “Liv, do me a favor and take a seat right here.” Kayden patted a spot on the edge of Jace’s desk and spread my legs wide once I sat down, making the view impossible for Jace to miss. I felt myself grow wetter at Jace’s eyes on me and the look of seduction on Kayden’s face. He had every intention of making Jace crack and he looked so hot doing it.
Kayden smirked at him as he gently nudged my panties to the side, and I tipped my head back in anticipation.
Jace muted the phone again. “If you two carry on right now, I will think of a way to make you pay later.”
Kayden’s smirk grew as he turned to me. “Is that something that concerns you, beautiful?”
I chuckled. “No, but it makes me horny to think about.”
Kayden pushed two fingers inside me, and I clenched around him, moaning. I assumed Martin was still yelling at Jace, and every once, in a while I heard Jace mutter something into the phone to let Martin know he was still listening, but I was more interested in the sounds of Kayden’s fingers moving in and out of my body.
“She’s so wet, Jace,” Kayden whispered, leaning forward to kiss my stomach. “I think she likes putting on a show for you.”
