I grabbed her shoulders and pulled her against me, bringing my mouth to hers and sighing at the instant connection. It was like coming home after being away for far too long. Kissing her felt just as consuming and intense as it had the first time. I pulled back before we got swept away.
“I definitely thought there were more words coming before the kiss,” she said, fingering her lips gently. “Not complaining though.”
“There were but I’ve been wanting to kiss you all night,” I said, running my thumb over her bottom lip. “I ran out of will power to resist.”
She laughed and wrapped her arms around my neck. “I’ll shut up, because I think I might like whatever you have to say.”
“You wanted to be remembered as the woman who encouraged me to be true to myself. And you have. A hundred times more than you will ever know,” I said. “And I wanted to be remembered as the person who encouraged you to go after the life you wanted.”
“Which you have been,” she said, giving me a chaste kiss before staring into my eyes again.
“What do you want now, Olivia? Am I part of the life you want to go after?”
“You arethelife I want to go after, Kayden. You and Jace. The three of us. That’s what I want. I really think we have a connection strong enough to pull this off. To experience joy at seeing our partners together instead of jealousy, to love equally and securely.”
A heaviness in my chest released at the realization that we all wanted the same thing. I wanted them. Ineededthem.
“I think you’re right about us,” I said. “I love seeing you and Jace together and I cannot wait to finish falling in love with you, Olivia.”
Olivia kissed me again and I pressed her against the car, letting my hands roam over her body as we made out in the cold far longer than we should have. It was soft and exploratory, without the urgency of our first night together, as if we both understood we had the rest of our lives this time.
My dick seemed to prefer the idea of fucking her against the car as it grew hard between us. She pulled my hips closer, rubbing her core against my erection and moaning softly.
“Olivia,” I whispered as I pulled back for air. “I think we should take this slower than last time. There’s too much at stake.”
She hoisted herself into the air and wrapped her legs around my waist as I caught her. “I agree, but I’m not done yet.”
She closed her lips over mine and I set her down on the hood of the car, pressing myself between her legs. Our bodies moved together in a rhythm that matched our tongues, and I ran my hands up and down her arms, trying to keep her warm as we kissed passionately, neither of us willing to be the one to end the kiss this time.
Finally, she tore her lips from mine. “You need to take me home or I’m going to forget why we’re taking this slow.”
I chuckled and took a step back. “Jace, Kaylee, our possible future together as a family.”
She smiled as she slid off the car. “Right, love those things for us.” Her eyes dipped to my pulsing erection, and she whimpered. “No first date sex. Second date sex?”
I laughed and pulled her against me for one more long kiss. “Definitely.”
Chapter Thirty-Six
Jace
The sound of adoor closing pulled me awake and I slowly blinked open my eyes, trying to get my bearings. I was just beginning to recognize the features of Liv’s living room when the couch shifted and the blanket around me lifted slightly. Olivia’s body slid in against me.
“Hey, hot stuff,” she said softly as she wrapped her arm around my waist. She pulled herself closer to me and I inhaled her sweet perfume as I nuzzled into her neck.
“Hey, sweetheart. How was your date?”
“It was great,” she said, snuggling closer as if she wanted the heat of my body to warm her.
“Where’s Kayden?” I asked, wrapping an arm around her and stroking her back.
“He went home because we agreed not to have sex on the first date this time. He dropped me off and told me to tell you that we’re all in.”
I perked right up. “You are? Both of you?” I squeezed her tight.
“Shh,” she said, giggling as she pointed to Kaylee’s room. “Yes, both of us. But this stays quiet until we’re sure it works.”
“Of course,” I said, crashing my lips against Liv’s. “I love you,” I whispered as I kissed along her jaw and down her neck.
