I turned to look back at him, feeling that Osvaldo temper in my blood rising. “Wasting my time?” I cocked my head. “The only one wasting my time at the moment is you, Ray.”

My eyes met those of my man’s behind him as I nodded. He immediately put Ray into a chokehold, then held a gun to his temple. Ray panicked. “Wait, wait, wait!”

I walked over to him, gripping his face. “Do you even realize how long I’ve waited to set things right? To wipe out those undeserving, selfish, fucking Osvaldo siblings?!” He didn’t speak. “No. You have no idea what’s even happening. Let him go.”

My man released Ray, who fell forward onto his knees. He was panting hard, noticeably frightened of what I was going to do.

As you should be.

I took a final sip before slamming the bourbon bottle against the coffee table, shattering the glass. “The only one wasting my time here isyou. And my time is quite valuable.” I swung a sharp edge from the glass, cutting his face from one side to the other, then knocked him to the ground. Ray screamed and cried out as I smiled, watching him bleed all over the floor.

I stood in front of the petty drug dealer, handing the broken glass off as the man gave me a handkerchief. “I’m going to give you one more chance.” I wiped my hands and bent down. His bloodshot eyes raised to mine, tears falling down his shredded face. “Bring me that woman, or I’ll personally make sure you never see the light of day again.” I tossed the handkerchief at him before storming away. “And clean yourself up…you look like shit.”

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

DREAM

“Lady Zaza, guess what tonight is?”I asked the vibrant-colored tarantula chilling in the palm of my hand. “That’s right…Felix is coming home.” I smiled, beyond excited to see him. “Maybe next time he has to leave, we can go with him.”

A loud knock on my door startled me. “One second!” I carefully returned the spider to her enclosure. The knocking continued, becoming more aggressive the longer it took me to answer.

That’s not normal.

I cautiously walked across the living room. “Who is it?” The banging continued as I approached the locked door. “Hello?”

The banging stopped.

“Danika.”

“Ray?” I shot back.

What the fuck is he doing here?

“Hey…I need to talk to you.”

Even though he couldn’t see me, I shook my head. “No…no, you need to leave. Now!”

He hit the door, the hinges rattling faintly. “I’m serious, Danika! I just—open the door. Look, I’m not going to hurt you, I just?—”

“Go away, Ray!” I grabbed my bag, searching for my gun.

“Danika, please! Just talk to me!”

I felt the textured grip in my hand, securing the weapon. Slowly, I made my way to the door and unlocked it, swinging it open and immediately holding the gun up. “Get the fuck away from my door, Ray.”

He raised his hands, his face fucked more than I had left it the last time we ran into each other. “Easy, mija.”

“Shut up,” I growled. He took a step back as I walked closer. “I told you to leave me alone, Ray.” He slowly descended the concrete steps while I kept my distance, holding the gun firmly toward him.

Ray looked around the empty street. “Put that thing away before someone sees it.”

I smiled. “You think I’m scared of someone seeing me? What about you?” I tipped my chin at him. “Think anyone will listen to a convicted drug dealer, fresh out of jail? Stalking his ex?” The tip of my finger hovered over the trigger. “I doubt it.”

“H-hold up now—” We both stopped as the sound of a motorcycle hit our ears.

Shit. Felix.

I turned my focus back to Ray, knowing he had to disappear, and fast. “I suggest you leave before my man sees you. Who knows what he might do?” I asked, tilting my head.
