“Why do you want to get to someone who walked away from you and left you with me?” he asked, eyeing me as I stared up at him from my knees.

“Because I want to tell her I’m sorry. I want to prove I am,” I said, my voice low. “Even if she doesn’t want me, I have to try. Wouldn’t you try if she walked away from you?”

“I would.” He backed away from me, and I watched him go without a word. I had no idea what would happen next. I could only hope it involved our freedom.

I closed my eyes and began to pray again. It was really all I could do while I waited for fucking Dante Church to decide my fate.

ROSALIE

Istared at the wall in my bedroom at Klaus’s place. I didn’t feel well. Walking out on the guys took all I had, but I knew I needed to do it so they knew exactly what it felt like.

It was killing me, though.

I worried for them, but I also knew Dante wouldn’t hurt them. At least I prayed he wouldn’t. I’d already told him I really just needed time to think, and he agreed that was a good idea and that he’d put the fear of god in them while he held them for a few days. He promised no bloodshed because of his contract with me, which I’d signed five years ago. I trusted him.

But it had been three days, and I was no closer to making a choice than I had been before.

In the big scheme of things, I knew I needed to tell Dante to let them go. He’d keep them forever if I asked, but that wasn’t what I wanted.

But I was scared.

“LeeLee?” Anson called out softly.

I looked over at him. The guys had been so sweet. Klaus and Evan flew in for a few days, even though I knew they wereswamped with work. I told them to go home, but they refused to leave.

“You have company,” Anson continued.

“I do?” I sat up and frowned. “Who?”

“It’s E.”

I blinked. “Dante let him go?”

Anson nodded. “It would seem so.”

I breathed out a sigh of relief. I told Dante I wanted him freed immediately. I wasn’t sure if he’d held him the last three days, but I was sure I was going to find out.

I felt guilty because I’d played the avoidance game, forcing myself not to call my brother and demand their release. I suppose deep down, I felt like they deserved to hurt as I had.

Of course, guilt ate at me because I wasn’t without secrets.

“I’ll let him come in here and talk, OK?”

I nodded. “Yeah. OK.”

He leaned down and kissed me sweetly before leaving the room. Ethan came in a moment later.

I stared at him as I slid to the edge of the bed.

“Hey,” he murmured. “Can I sit?”

I nodded, and he sat beside me on the bed.

“Rosalie—”

“I don’t need to hear it,” I whispered. “I really don’t.”
