We left the room and went out the back door to where Ryder was waiting for us.
We got into the back, and Cole was quick to take the seat next to me as Anson grumbled and sat across from us.
“How was it?” Ryder asked.
“I fucked her in the examination room,” Cole said. “Oh, and our baby is due April fifth.”
“Congrats, guys,” Ryder said, smiling at us in the rearview mirror. “But fuck you, Scott.”
Cole gave him the finger.
Anson smiled. “Thanks, man. Now take this prick to the airport. He’s driving me nuts.”
Cole smirked at him. “What was it like watching me fuck her, knowing you couldn’t? Did it feel like old times?”
Anson shook his head. “You really are a fucking nightmare.”
“Your nightmare now, Ass Hat. Thanks for getting me off that night. Without you, I might not be ahead with babies. Two-oh, bitch. How does that feel? You’ve been with her for fiveyears, and I come back, and five minutes later, I planted my seed again. That’s gotta suck.”
“We don’t know it’s yours,” Anson said, not bothering to get snappy. “It could be mine.”
“Could be. Likely isn’t. I have a track record of getting the job done.”
“Cole, stop,” I said. “Please?”
He immediately went quiet, his hand holding mine tightly.
I stared at Anson, and he smiled at me, with no sign on his face that Cole upset him.
“Mine,” he mouthed to me.
I smirked and mouthed back.
“Yours.”
And that was all it took to change the mood in the car.

Isat up in my chair as Cole walked through the front door.
“You’re home,” I said, surprised he’d come back. I hadn’t heard from him all damn weekend. Neither had E. He’d left a damn note and was gone.
“I’m home,” he said, grinning as he dropped his bag and flopped onto the couch.
E came in from the kitchen.
“Fuck, thank god you’re back. You had us fucking worried,” E said, moving to sit next to Cole on the massive leather couch.
“You knew I was good. I left a note.”
“Mentally, you’ve been fucked lately,” I said. “We prayed you were good. Luckily, Dom reached out to Anson for us and let us know you’d safely made it to L.A. and were currently irritating him.”
“God, I was. It was a great time.” Cole grinned and sat up.
“So it went well?” E ventured.
