“How did she…?” Evan asked as we got Klaus sitting up.

“I taught her a nut check,” he said, his face still pale. “I wasn’t sure she got it, but apparently, she understood too well.”

“And she disarmed you,” Dom mused. “That’s impressive. You have a hell of a reputation, Klaus. I can’t wait to tell the kings about this.”

Klaus gave him the finger again and winced.

“This is a fucking mess,” I muttered, my heart in my throat.

“She’ll be OK,” Evan said. “She’s always known how to handle the guys.”

“This is different,” I argued. “They’re not hers.”

“Cole will always be hers,” Evan said softly. “I know he won’t let Enzo hurt her. We… We have to have faith.”

I sighed. I knew Cole loved Rosalie endlessly, but I still prayed for that love to remain because this entire thing was fucked. I didn’t trust Lorenzo De Luca as far as I could throw him.

I’d learned not to a long fucking time ago.

ROSALIE

“So no yelling. No going in guns blazing,” Levin said as he drove me to the guys’ place.

I said nothing because there was no promise I could make. The fact that Enzo went so far as to threaten Evan was enough for me. I wasn’t the same broken girl he used to know. I meant business when it came to my family.

Levin pulled up to the high-rise where Enzo and the guys lived. I grabbed the door handle, but Levin clutched my forearm.

“Rosalie. Listen,” he said.

I stared at him impatiently.

“Be calm, OK? I don’t know what headspace Enzo is in. He’s a dangerous man.”

“He will be a dead man if he fucks with my family,” I said, jerking away from him.

Levin sighed. “I’m going with you.”

“You’re not?—”

“Believe it or not, I care about my old man these days. If something happens to you, I’ll never be able to forgive myself. Seeing him happy sort of did something to me, OK? So I’m goingwith you. I’ll wait outside, but I’ll still be there if you need me. That’s non-negotiable.”

“Whatever,” I muttered, pushing the door open and getting out. I’d tucked my hair beneath my hoodie and had my sunglasses on.

Levin followed me into the high-rise, where the doorman greeted us with a smile since he clearly had been given clearance to let us up. I figured it had more to do with Levin than me since he didn’t know who the hell I was.

Levin nodded at him, offered a quick smile, and led me to the elevator.

“Please be cool,” Levin said as the elevator doors opened and we stepped inside. “Enzo has guards outside his doors. You know that. So no yelling or you won’t get in.”

I grunted, not giving a shit about his security and guards.

“Rosalie—”

“I know, Levin,” I snapped at him.

“No. Please. For my dad, OK?”
