Another freaking spirit.

With my hand to my heart, I close my eyes and breathe.

“Don’t sneak up on people like that. You about gave me a heart attack.”

“But you can see me.” Her excitement is growing by the minute. “You don’t know how long I’ve been trying to contact my sister. I need your help.”

My head shakes and I lift my hands to stop her from continuing. “No. No. No. I’m here to escape ghosts, not work for them. This is my pamper day. Please go away.”

Her hands rise to a praying position and her face falls. “Help me.”

I click the lock and grab the key, turning away and rushing from the room. When I make it to the hallway, Lanie is leaning up against the wall, pretending to look at a watch she’s not wearing.

“Took you long enough,” she snips. “I about stormed the room to drag you out.”

I turn back toward the changing room, expecting to see the ghost girl, but she’s not there.

Thank god.

Hopefully she got the message and skedaddled.

“What’s wrong?” Lanie searches my face, eyes narrowed and lips pursed.

“Just need that mimosa,” I say, hoping the reminder of alcohol is enough to distract my boozy friend.

It works.

A smile spreads across her face and she nods, wiggling her eyebrows. “Let’s go.”

She pulls me toward the resting room, and I must admit, this place gets more fabulous with every room.

“Wow,” I breathe out.

“Right? I asked them to give us a full thirty minutes, minimum, in here. It’s so relaxing.”

She heads toward one of the cream chaise longue chairs. The small table next to each has a mimosa waiting for us, and the first thing Lanie does is take a sip, moaning around the effervescent drink.

I’m too caught up in the details of the room. It’s a scene right out of a Hallmark movie. Dimmed lights, cozy blankets, a fire blazing... serenity.

I don’t waste time, curling up and pulling the plush, heated blanket over me, sighing in contentment. “This is wonderful, Lanie. Thank you.”

She sighs. “I’m happy to have an excuse to cash in on this.”

We talk in hushed tones, both trying to maintain the peacefulness of the moment. Lanie fills me in on our schedule for the day, and I don’t understand what half of it means.

“We start out with a ninety-minute full-body relaxation massage. I’ve already asked them not to talk.”

“I’ll probably fall asleep,” I admit.

“That’s the point of relaxation, Ally.”

I shrug. Not going to fight her on that. “What’s next?”

“A vitamin C anti-aging facial. I’ve already instructed them to give you any add-on treatment you need based on your skin. Thensalt glow body scrub and Vichy shower, and then we’ll break for lunch.”

“Do we leave?”

She shakes her head. “No, they bring it in. We have our choice of a few options. They’ll likely give you the menu when you’re back in here between treatments.”
