“Uh, Remi?”Ollie said.
He’d forgotten Ollie was there, but luckily, he was far enough away that he hadn’t heard anything they’d said.
Skye stepped sideways, out of contact with Remi’s body. She walked to Ollie, hand outstretched.“Hi, I’m Skye.A friend of Remi’s.It’s nice to meet you, Ollie.”
Ollie nodded in greeting, raising his hand to shake hers.
“Don’t!”Remi said, running over and slapping Skye’s hand out of the air.“Don’t shake her hand.”
Skye rolled her eyes and leaned into her hip.She tilted her head and raised her eyebrows in a ‘really?’look.“I don’t have some contagious disease, Remi.Nothing will happen to him if he shakes my hand.”
“If you think I’d believe a word you say—”
“Remi!”Liam shouted, sprinting over to them.West was right behind him.“Did you hear about the sound guy?Are we fucked or…?”
West grabbed Liam’s arm, no doubt noticing the hostility hanging thick in the room.
Skye glared at Remi for another beat, and then she turned and pointed her sexy grin at them.“Hi, Liam, West.My name’s Skye.I’m a friend of—well, actually, I’m Remi’s friend, but he thinks of me as an enemy apparently, but that’s neither here nor there. What seems to be the problem with the sound guy?”
“Oh hell no,” Remi said, shouldering his way in front of Liam, who was about to open his big mouth.“We don’t want the kind of help you are offering.”
Skye tilted her chin down.“Remi, there are no strings attached.I’ve been coming to the Whisky since before I could walk.I know the managers.I know the sound system.I could probably point out every single scuff mark and dried gum wad in this place with my eyes closed. You need help.I’m here to help.”Her eyes slid to Liam.“What’s the problem?”
Liam—the big idiot—said, “The sound guy lost our settings during sound check.”
Skye nodded and strode out of the backstage area.Everyone followed on her heels.
Remi tried to grab her arm, but she slipped out of his grip.“If you think you’re going to get their souls for this—” he said under his breath.
Skye ignored him.
She hopped over the barrier that enclosed the sound equipment and went toward the audio technician. He recognized her instantly, pulling her into a hug. They laughed and talked for a moment before Skye pointed to the computer. The sound guy motioned with his hands in a ‘go ahead’ gesture.
She bent over the desk, thrusting her ass out.Remi wanted to punch Liam and Ollie in the face at the way they ogled her.He wanted to punch himself in the face too, if he was honest, because holy hell this woman was a fucking demon goddess.Remi’s fingers twitched with the desire to run his palms down her delectable curves, to squeeze and jiggle the flesh of her hips and ass.Fuck, he was—
Remi snapped out of it and shoved his friends, hitting Liam upside the head for good measure. He turned to his left, and even West was checking her out.
“Really?”Remi said.
West screwed up his face.“I’m gay.Not blind,” he whispered.
Skye straightened and wiped her hands together as if completing a job.The sound guy squeezed her to his side and nodded, taking over at the computer.
Skye sauntered back over, smirking.“There.All better.”
“What’d you do?”Liam asked in an awed tone.
“George got an upgraded system. He’s the best in the business, but still learning the ins-and-outs of the new software. He tried to copy and paste the settings, but must have hit cut instead and thought he’d lost them.No big deal.I’m sure he won’t make that mistake again,” Skye said.
“How do you know about upgraded sound systems better than the sound guy?”West asked.
Skye pressed her lips together, trying to fight a smile.“I know a lot of things better than most people.I’ve been solving bands’ problems since I was sixteen.”
“Do you want to be our band manager?”Liam blurted out.
“What?”Remi said.“No!”
“Why not?”Liam asked.“She just saved the day. She’s hot.And we don’t have one since we fired Jim for stealing all our money.”
