“I can think of better things for us to do than sleep,” I say, letting my eyes drop to his lips.

“Keep the door closed.” Julie laughs.

“Shut it behind you,” I say with a grin before kissing Micah again.

I will do whatever I have to do to get that needle in my hand. I want to watch all that happiness drain out of their fucking faces when they realize they were never winning. They never even stood a fucking chance against me, because rage will always win against greed.

Chapter Thirty

Talia

Day Seven

I might vomit ifMicah touches me one more fucking time. Over the course of yesterday and today, he has fucked me, eaten my pussy, and taken my ass more times than I can count. It has done nothing to grow the bond; in fact, I think it has disintegrated it. Still, I smile and laugh. I come when he wants me to. I’m begging for more at just the right times. I let him hold me close to his chest and pretend like he is the only man that I want.

I am so fucking ready to go home. I just want to be wrapped in my mate’s arms. My real mate. I want Soren so bad that it fucking hurts, but we are so close. I’m trying to keep my head in the right space, so I haven’t really said much to Soren. When I do, I just continue to reassure him that my plan is working. I don’t think he truly believes me, and he won’t until it all plays out.

“Ready?” Henry asks, peeking his head into the door.

“Is it time?” I ask, perking up.

“Yep. Julie has everything ready,” Henry says with a smile. “It’s pathetic. He’s still awake somehow.”

“That means he will still be awake when our bond severs for good, right?” I ask. “I don’t know how that works. Is there anything to break?”

“He is still very much attached, but you aren’t. It will be excruciating for him, but a relief for you,” Micah explains.

“Good. Maybe he can feel a fraction of what he put me through,” I say, standing up from the bed. Micah laughs as he stands and cups my cheek.

“When everything is done, Julie has a celebration planned for us all,” Micah tells me.

“I can’t wait!” I say before kissing him.

We walk out of the room and down the hall. When we step into the room with Soren, they have him hanging by the shackles with his arms above his head again. He looks horrible. His eyes are half open, his muscles have disintegrated almost completely. His complexion is gray and lifeless. He is hardly conscious, but clinging to life.

“Alright,” Julie says sweetly. “You ready?”

“Absolutely,” I say. “So do I just stab him?”

“Anywhere you want. The closer to the heart, the quicker,” she says, holding the injection in her hand. She doesn’t hesitate to extend her hand and offer it to me. When I pick it up from her palm, I hold it like it’s a cherished item, because it is. This is our ticket to freedom.

I drop my hand to my side so my sleeve falls over the needle. When I turn to Micah, he smiles. “What is it, Bunny?”

“Kiss me,” I say sweetly. “Let him see.”

“I’m tempted to fuck you over top of him,” he says, stepping closer and cupping my face with his hands. When he kisses me, I sigh and bring my arms up to his shoulders. None of them has noticed that I’ve taken the cap off the needle.

I let the moment build and continue to kiss Micah. I don’t want to act too quickly, or they might be able to prevent me from doing it. When Micah’s body completely relaxes, I whisper in his ear.

“You are just as unwanted as Julie is,” I say before stabbing the needle into his neck. I quickly push the liquid into his body.

Micah shoves me away so hard that I fall back on my ass, but panic spreads through him quicker than I ever thought was possible. It’s like it’s burning him from the inside out. He groans and hits his knees. “What did you do?!” Micah screams at me. “You fucking bitch!”

“You will never be my mate,” I say, spitting on him. I look up, and Julie is stunned. She truly had no fucking idea that I was playing her the entire time. I watch as the realization kicks in that she has lost, and then she runs. She leaves the room, knowing that she has nothing now. Nothing but a problem, but I will get rid of it.

I take advantage of Micah’s panic and grab the knife from his jeans pocket. I rush to Soren, lying him on the table, and slice into my neck before cradling his head and bringing it to the blood running down my shoulder.

“Run,” I tell Henry before looking at Micah. “Before he gains his strength back.”
