“Okay, the first time was Diego,” Vaughn argues. “The second time… That was definitely me.”

When we get to the basement, Greg is naked, bleeding, and strung up by his wrists in the center of the room. After seeing how terrified Talia was around Henry, I am not letting her do that to herself again.

I truly thought that I scared her until I saw how she changed around Henry. She was absolutely terrified. The trauma with Greg is so new that I don’t think it’s a good idea for her to be around him while he is breathing. I know I should let her make that choice, but I can’t. I’ll let her sleep and wake her after so she can see that he is, in fact, gone.

“Has he said anything?” I ask Micah.

“Nope,” he says as he stands.

“You hurt my mate,” I say as I circle Greg.

“She’s an abom…” he starts to say as Micah punches him in the face, making his head snap back.

“I’ll tell you what, Greg,” I say as I walk over to the table and get the probe. It starts as a normal metal rod, but once it’s turnedon, it sends electricity flowing through to whatever is touching it. “I should do many things to you, but instead…”

“What’s that? Wait, wait, wait!” he says, spitting out blood. I walk around behind him and slowly push it into his ass. He screams as I start shoving it inside of him, but I don’t stop. His screams turn shrill, but I push it to the hilt and step back. The end is where the cord starts and plugs into a specially wired outlet. Vaughn walks over and waits for me to give him the signal.

“Please! I can tell you whatever you want to know. Anything!” Greg begs. “Please, please, please. I can help. You could take him down!”

“I choose justice for Talia,” I say simply, nodding to Vaughn. He shoves the plug into the outlet. His screams are ear-piercing when it begins to shock him. It’s made specifically to ensure it’s a slow and violent death.

Greg screams until his voice is raw and broken before his eyes roll back and he begins convulsing. It’s not until he is limp that I give the signal to shut it off, and his body is subtly smoking.

“Get rid of this scum,” I say, walking to the stairs. “I’m going to lie with my mate.”

When I get back to the room, I undress and lie next to Talia. She rolls and snuggles into me, so I kiss her head. “It’s done,” I murmur. “Greg is gone.”

Talia looks up and smiles sleepily at me. “Thank you,” she says softly.

“For what, Bunny?”

“For being the peace I needed in life,” she says before snuggling back into my chest.

Chapter Nineteen

Talia

Two Weeks Later

That’s it, I’m fuckingdone for. I am so madly in love with Soren; life without him would be bleak. We are undoubtedly two toxic peas in a pod, but I’ll choose us anyway. I never knew what I needed in life until Soren. Still, we are waiting for me to be turned. It’s not that I don’t want to, because I do, but we agree that we need to be way further grounded in our relationship before a decision like that is made. Once we go there, we are literally together forever, and let’s be honest… He intentionally cheated on me, and I repeatedly shot him for it. We have a lot to learn about each other before we are stuck together for eternity.

It’s not that Soren has suddenly turned mushy, because he hasn’t. He is still absolutely a monster, but he’s my monster. Everything he does, he considers me as a partner, not an obstacle. That’s considerably better than where we were before.

Soren has planned a date for us. Like a real date. I don’t know where we are going, but I know Micah helped him plan it while the others are handling a contract. I’m so excited because it’s our first normal couple thing. We have the mundane things down great, but this? This is new.

I have on a white skirt and a light blue top with simple flats. I have my hair down, and light makeup on. As I walk downstairs, I see Soren by the door talking to the guys. He has jeans on that hug him perfectly, and a simple white button-up short-sleeved shirt. A grin spreads across his face when he sees me, and meets me at the bottom step.

“You look incredible, Talia,” he says as he gently cups my chin.

“So do you,” I say with a shy smile. He chuckles and gently kisses me, and fuck, I melt immediately. Soren and I, we know how to fuck. We know how to fight. We know how to handle the serious shit. But this? This is new for us both, because neither of us is a soft person, but we are learning to be for each other.

“Don’t stay out too late, kids,” Vaughn says.

“Okay, Dad,” I laugh.

“Hey now. I’d sell you for at least double,” Vaughn says.

“Oh, that’s low,” Soren laughs.
