We got talked into smoothies, where Zayn declared that the silent Daniyal highly recommended the girliest drink on the menu, then forced all of us to have them before we parted ways.
After that, I tried to check in with Arty again. But got no answer. I didn’t say anything to Lula, but I was getting a little concerned about not hearing back from him. Yes, it was true that he became obsessed with work. It wasn’t like him, though, not to at least answer a text.
If I didn’t hear back from him after the club, I might consider dragging my ass over there to check on the guy.
I kept those plans to myself as we each hit up a few shops and then a coffee place before heading back to the house to wash off the salt, sweat, and sunblock.
I was just getting out of the shower when I heard my phone ringing downstairs where I’d plugged it in.
I rushed down in my towel, hoping for Arty, but seeing Dixon’s name on the screen.
“Yo,” I answered.
“Little bird told me you’re back in town without saying anything. So I’m under orders to see what’s going on.”
“I didn’t check in because I’m not here for work. Just came down with a friend.”
“Yeah, I heard all about your friend,” Dixon said, voice teasing. “She as gorgeous as Zayn claims?”
“More.”
“I guess I’ll see for myself tonight. We’re hitting up Viper Lounge too.”
That was good. Maybe I could get one of them to go check on Arty for me, so Lula didn’t get suspicious.
“Is that—” Lula started, then cut off, making me look over to find her gaze raking over me, her eyes so heavy-lidded they were mostly closed.
She’d been wearing the fluffy robes from the hotel, but without one of those here, she’d slipped into one of her own silk robes in a color that could only be called a whisper of pink. It was painfully obvious that there was nothing on beneath it with the way the material cascaded over her breasts, hips, and ass.
She’d taken off her bonnet, and judging by how much her skin was glistening, I imagined she’d already slathered on her oils and lotions.
My hands itched to reach out, to feel the impossible softness of the skin of her ankle, calf, knee, up under her robe.
“You there?” Dixon asked in my ear, making me jolt.
“Yeah, I’m here.”
“I said we were thinking of being in Miami by eight. You mind if we park where you’re at?”
“Yeah, that’s fine. Teddy’s glass beach house.”
“Alright, see you then.”
“See you then.”
I ended the call and placed the phone back down. “Don’t get your hopes up. It wasn’t Arty.”
“Who are we going to be seeing then?”
“Seems like Zayn was calling all his close friends. He name-dropped us. Now we will be seeing the Golden Glades crew here later. Go to the club together.”
“Oh, okay.”
“Don’t stress out. I know you aren’t used to a lot of company, but it will only be three of ‘em. And their main focus tonight will be finding something pretty to go home with.”
“I’m okay with meeting them. Will they be staying here?”
“Might be a very slight chance someone crashes if they get kicked out of whoever’s house they go to. But they will stay out of our hair.”
