I wasn’t sure if I truly had things under control, because my infatuation with Mycah wasn’t something I was used to. Maybe I felt the way I did because I had been single for a while. Mycah was like that shiny new toy, and I wanted to play with her. I just prayed I didn’t regret it.

When I arrived at work, I parked in my spot and grabbed the box of donuts and the coffees. I prepared myself for the funny looks that I knew would come my way. Sometimes I brought donuts for the staff, but I never brought anyone coffee. This was new for me, and I hoped it didn’t make Mycah feel weird.

My chest expanded when I walked in and saw Mycah at her desk. I could tell her mind was elsewhere by the way she chewed the corner of her mouth. She didn’t even notice that I approached her desk.

“Good morning, Mycah.”

Her hand shot her to chest. “Oh, shoot. Kairo, you scared me.”

I placed the cups and donuts on the corner of her desk. Today she smelled like a field of flowers, but it wasn’t strong. Redness filled her cheeks as she glanced at the coffee and donuts.

“My bad, doll baby. I got you coffee and some donuts. The breakfast tacos from there are good, too, if those are your thing.”

She looked surprised, and she wasn’t the only one. I noticed Donna gave me a sideways glance when I walked past her.

“Oh, thank you. You didn’t have to do that. And I do like breakfast tacos.”

“Cool, and it’s no problem. I wasn’t sure what you like in your coffee, so I grabbed a few packets of sugar and some creamers. They had two different flavors, so I got a couple of each. Whatever you don’t use, I’ll put in the break room.”

I picked up one of the cups and passed it to her. She smiled at me as she grabbed it, then took the creamers she wanted from my hand along with some sugar.

“Did you need some?”

“Nah, I drink mine black.”

A cute little frown formed on her face, and her nose twitched. I had this urge to tap the tip of her nose, but I refrained. I would definitely be doing way too much, too fast.

“Um, are you a serial killer?” she questioned with disgust written all over her face.

I laughed loudly, and one of the officers looked in our direction.

“You crazy for that. No. All of that sugar and shit take away the potency of the caffeine to me. I drink coffee to stay awake. If I add all that other stuff, I’ll be at my desk dozing off. Trust me, it took a minute for me to get used to it. It’s not for everyone.”

She opened and lined up three creamers before she poured them into her cup. Then, she used three packs of sugar. I stored that information in the back of my mind in case I got her more coffee one day.

“You don’t have to worry about me trying it. I like my coffee light skinned.” She paused then pinned her eyes on me. “Caramel to be exact.”

I could have been tripping, but I was sure that Mycah flirted with me when she made that comment.

“Duly noted. There’s a couple of donuts in there for you too. It’s one of my favorites, and they could only be purchased around here. I figured I’d get you one to try, and then I got you a glazed one. Can’t go wrong with glazed.”

She opened the box, and her eyes lit up at the glazed donut. They always had the perfect amount of glaze on them.

“Glaze is my favorite. What’s this other one?” She lifted the other donut out of the box and examined it.

“It’s tiramisu. They only sell those at the donut shop you bumped into me at.” I smirked.

“You aren’t going to let me forget that, are you?”

I laughed, but it was cut off when she bit into the donut and moaned.

This fucking girl.

I didn’t think she even realized she did that. I wanted to call her out on it, but I had to discreetly adjust my dick.

“Kairo, this is so good.” She dragged out the word good, then took another bite.

“I’m glad you like it. I’ll leave you to it. Let me know if you need anything.”
